actual temperature conditions into account
Highlight Applications
• Internal QC & compliance tool for store operations
• Sensors applied automatically at full production line speed
• Visually alerts store associates to freshness level of buns
Food Service
High Speed Application
• Sensors are activated and applied at high speed on multiple production lines
• Redundant system ensures that all packages are labeled with a sensor
• Master applicator applies sensor• Online optical QA check ensures that sensor
is present • If no sensor detected, redundant system
applies sensor
• Designed to build and maintain consumer
confidence in a sensitive food type
• Activated manually by packers or by automatic
activation followed by freezing
Freshness Indicator
COSMETICS MARKET
HIGHLIGHT APPLICATIONS
• A clear visual indication that it’s time to
discard the product and repurchase
• Sensor applied to unit level primary
packaging, and activated upon opening the
package
Time to Repurchase Indicator
HEALTHCARE MARKET
HIGHLIGHT APPLICATIONS
• Visual indication of the state of each vaccine vial
• Manufactured to comply with WHO standards for
VVM’s
Vaccine Vial Monitors
• Sensors applied to unit level primary blister packs
• Monitors the product from production through to use
• Indicates the accurate shelf life of the product, as determined by its temperature history
Biopharmaceuticals
MEDICAL SUPPLIES MARKET
HIGHLIGHT APPLICATIONS
• A dynamic sensor with a clear visual indication
when IV set and catheter needs to be replaced
• The sensor is activated by health-care worker when
IV set / catheter is placed

How SMART DOTS™ Work• The process is based on chemically dissolving an aluminum layer at a rate that is temperature
dependent.
• On the production line, a reactive layer is applied to the aluminum layer and the chemical process begins.

Color/visual signal underneath the aluminum
• The proprietary active element within the adhesive etches the aluminum, revealing the color/visual signal underneath it.

Robust, accurate technology that is mass produced
today on a very wide scale
SMART DOTS™ are shelf stable (prior to activation)
and light stable
Activation of SMART DOTS™ takes place at source via
high speed applicators installed on production lines
Technological Characteristics of SMART DOTS™
SMART DOT™ sensors are produced on industry standard printing presses using
materials that are approved for indirect food contact
Technological Advantages of SMART DOTS™
Shelf life of the sensors can be calibrated to match the shelf life
of the product
Size and design can be customized to suit the need
Simple integration/adoption – no disruption to manufacturing
lines or processes
