Direct Speech (El estilo directo)
Usanos el estilo directo cuando queremos informar textualmente lo que dicen las personas Con este estilo lo que la persona ha dicho se coloca entre comillas (“…”)
She said “ I will travel “ (ELLA DIJO “ VIAJARÉ “ )
Alice said “ I love dancing “ ( ALICE DIJO “ ME ENCANTA BAILAR “ )
Reported Speech (El estilo indirecto)
El estilo indirecto : se cuenta lo que dicen las personas sin reproducir exactamente sus palabras .Las oraciones en estilo indirecto van introducidas por un verbo : ( decir, creer, contar, informar, pedir, etc ) Por ejemplo, Ella dijo que estaba enferma (SHE SAID SHE WAS SICK . )En general, cuando se usa el estilo indirecto, el tiempo verbal cambia. A continuación tienes una explicación de los cambios que sufren los tiempos verbales.
Cuando la oración en estilo DIRECTO está en
presente, cambia a PASADO .

Cuando la oración en estilo directo está en presente progresivo, cambia a
pasado progresivo.
