Busbar Design
9
Design Features
• Special sections with expansion joints provide necessary thermal expansion to the busbar and the enclosure during operation;
• Flexible joints at points of connection to power equipment prevent vibration transmission and propagation;
• Design of support insulator attachment enables free access for inspection, cleaning or replacement; and
• Use of aluminum as a structural material ensures low weight of sections, which facilitates rigging operations and enables safe and quick installation.
Busbar Design
10
Design Features • The design incorporates support insulators with highly
hydrophobic organic-silicon enclosures;
• Bolt joints only at points of connection to equipment. The enclosure design at connection points provides free access for inspection and checking bolt tightening;
• Contact surfaces of bolt joints have protective coating to reduce transient resistance; and
• Ease of aluminum workability enables compensation of any construction design deviations during assembly by cutting or expanding busbar and enclosure elements.
Types of Busbar Sections
11
A busbar consists of sections. The product is supplied for installation fully shop-assembled with sections up to 8 meters long, which results in low installation costs.
The busbar route is divided in separate sections.

Reliability Enhancement Systems
15
Pressurization system creates overpressure inside the busbar by continuous dehydrated air charging.
Advantages: • Ensures relative air humidity less than 30-
40%; • Maintains busbar pressure above
atmospheric pressure by 600-1,000 Pa; • Increases the busbar protection degree up
to IP64 (IP65); and • Possible displaying of air humidity and
pressure values on the control unit panel.
16
UKOI-M system solves the problem of resistance measuring of each busbar support insulator with simultaneous data display for all insulators in the form convenient to the operator.
Advantages: • On-line measuring of insulator resistance within
the range of 1 to 3,600 MΩ at operating voltage;
• Original scheme of connection to the power unit, preventing any modifications to the grounding system for busbars and switching devices and tampering with protection and other systems; and
• Data can be transferred to the automation system.
