regresar a algún bello destino turístico
argentino.
visitantes nacionales y extranjeros duran-
te el receso invernal 2011 .
Winter holidays are near, and theplans to visit or return to some beautiful
Argentine tourist destination begin.
Snowy spots are, undoubtedly, the most
chosen places when it comes to planning
a trip, being ideal for winter sport fans.
With the imposing Andes Mountain Range
at the backdrop, there are important ski
resorts and snow parks scattered along
several western and southern provinces of
our country.
One of the most popular destinations is
La Hoya, located in the Chubut province,
quite close to Esquel, with a geographic
location that guarantees an excellent
snow quality that remains intact from
early June to mid-October.
However, Argentina was gifted with a
great variety of climates and landscapes
featuring sceneries for everybody’s likes.
Year after year there is a clear winter
tourist activity throughout the country thatgoes beyond the snow.
The travelers´ interest promoted the first
edition of the Salón Internacional de
Turismo de Invierno which took place last
May, where all the regions had their
representatives, with the aim of «unifying
the country as a center of tourism», as
expressed by the Nation’s Sub-secretariat
of Tourism Promotion, Patricia Vismara.
Options abound, and the success
showed last summer season assures an
array of local and foreign tourists for the
upcoming 2011 winter holidays .

VACACIONES SOBRE ESQUÍES
CAM La Hoya

Winter is arriving and in the Argentinesouthern provinces, it also brings snow.
Chubut eagerly awaits the arrival of
visitors fond of skiing and who travel
to La Hoya to enjoy the white mountain
paradise.
Just 12 km away from the city of Esquel, the Centrode Actividades de Montaña (CAM) La Hoya invites to
let yourself go on an adventure: on skies,
snowboards, snowshoes or just to admire the
spectacular scenery together with the family.
Proposals abound and suit everyone´s likes.
Long-lasting snow
Due to the dry climate and heavy rainfalls, the
CAM La Hoya guarantees a long-lasting season that
begins the end of June and lasts until mid-October.
The south orientation and natural design make its
slopes be exposed to the sun only for a few hours
enduring in consequence the snow´s quality and the
cold temperature, keeping it in better conditions.
Ski runs are connected and graded according to
CAM La Hoya
SKI HOLIDAYS
difficulty, boasting trails for beginners, advance and
professional skiers. They converge at the mountain´s
bottom due to the special mountain´s shape
resembling an inverted pyramid, in opposition to the
rest of the mountains. This feature magnifies safety
and parents can relax, that is why La Hoya is an
ideal family place. The slopes make the mountain suitable for extreme
skiing and for practicing off-piste skiing since it
boasts several faces to descent. Skiable area is of
148,26 acres, 8 of which are used for this last
modality.
Among the activities you can perform, we can
mention: alpine skiing, snowboarding, snowshoe
walking, sledging, ski bobbing, free style skiing, and
freeriding (off-piste).
Mountain services
At the bottom of the mountain you will find
equipment and outfit rental. In the ski and snowboardschool, trained personnel teach beginners the secrets
to master the mountain in single or group lessons.
For the little ones, there is the nursery, and from 3
to 5 years old, the 200-square-meter snow park to
have some fun.
To regain strength before skiing or for the well-
deserved break at any time of the day, it features 3
culinary proposals: at the mountain´s bottom, the
Hotel and Restaurant «El Refugio de La Montaña», at
1430 meters above sea level, where you can warm

up with a hot cup of chocolate.
A bit up, at level 1650, we find «La piedra», a
classic bar and restaurant which, for 27 years, has
welcomed tourists looking for fast food, snack bar,
drinks, shakes, waffles, cakes and local draft beer.
Near the top, at 1850 meters, we find «El Refugio
del Esquiador », where the most discerning palates canenjoy a menu a la carte with selected wines and
delicious dishes, such us trout and venison.
Special offers for everyone
La Hoya features special offers for Los Andes and
Chubut´s local residents, boasting next season passes
at a premium rate.
For the rest of visitors, special offers include
families of 5 or more members (father, mother and
kids), and university and college students from
anywhere of the country or the world.
Children taking part in the mountain´s contests,
minors under 6 years old, and people over 65 getfree admission the entire season. Additionally, schools
and kindergartens visiting the CAM in the low season
will share the same benefit.
In turn, admission for tourists and local residents will
be free during the season opening and closing days,
Student’s and Children’s Day.
The 2011 season is waiting and looks promising.
The snow is almost here, making every adventure
possible when it paints the scenery white .

A saber:
metales preciosos y/u otras divisas.

Traveler´s TIPS
USEFUL INFORMATION
BEFORE CROSSING THE BORDER
Required documents, customs proceedings, and special authorizations become major issues
to consider when going abroad... Being aware of them help travelers and avoid travel
problems.
On holidays, a neighboringcountry is the chosen destination for
many people. Planning a trip implies
not only picking a place,
accommodation, and departing date
but also, it makes us wonder about
things such as the required papers to
travel by car, the kids´ documents,
the dog, etc.
Still looking for answers since you
are busy packing or too excited
about the imminent trip? Here you
have a short guide to avoid
oversights:
Papers all around
Both ID and passport can be used
to enter and/or exit neighboring

countries. Frequent travelers
suggest making some photocopies of
the documents that need to be taken
abroad, since the moment you get
there it´s convenient to keep theoriginals to avoid problems in case of
losing them.
Pay special attention to
documentation of children under 18
years old traveling with both parents,
one of them, or with some other
person. In the cases they are with
both parents, submit the ID together
with the birth certificate or certificate
of marriage (original document) to
account for the kinship. On the other
hand, if they exit the country
accompanied by a single parent, it is
required an authorization of theabsent one. Lastly, if they travel with
some other adult, the data of the
person in charge of the child should
be also added to the authorization.
All those traveling by car, must
carry the license driver, the
registration card or a notarized
authorization, valid insurance within
the Mercosur, and the car‘s windows
with the license plate engraved on
them. If the car is driven by an
owner’s immediate relative (spouse,
children), there is no need to have a
special authorization, otherwise a
notarized authorization will be
required.
In addition to the up to date
documentation, it is essential toinquire about the destination
country’s driving-related regulations,
and if it is necessary to carry an
extra document, such Brazil which
requires receipts for the last three
licenses plate’s payments.
Traveling with a pet
On any route, funny furry ears
can be seen leaning out of the car
windows admiring the view. Dogs
and cats, among others, are usually
included as extra members when
families travel to different touristdestinations.
For that reason, it is advisable to
bear in mind that pet transportation
requires an authorization given in
advance by the Servicio Nacional
de Sanidad y Calidad
Agroalimentaria (SENASA), which
generally implies an International
Veterinary Certificate issued, in the
case of Buenos Aires City, by said
institution at the Quarantine Station
«Lazareto Capital», located in the
port.
Baggage and cash
Another major inquiry is about
luggage and tax free items.
Regarding this, the Administración
Federal de Ingresos Públicos (AFIP)allows carrying new and used goods
for private use or gifts with non-
commercial purposes.
Concerning the carry-on baggage,
export goods bought in Argentina
up to the limit of U$S 2000 or its
equivalent in other currencies, are
allowed when accompanied by the
corresponding purchase invoices.
Any imported goods needs to be
declared before Customs (with the
exception of those exhibiting the tax
stamp) in order to be given a
receipt that should be submittedwhen returning to the country.
Finally, when it comes to money, it
is regulated that travelers older than
16 years old and emancipated can
exit the country with up to U$S
10.000, or its equivalent in checks,
precious metals, or other currencies.
Restrictions apply to crew members
or travelers, and when the value is
higher but in the legal currency of
Argentina, the declaration before
Customs is avoided .

(Vicente López1661, local 12 I Tel: (011) 4813-5900)

Welsh delicacies in Trevelin
The typical Welsh tea shops are part of the not-to-be-missed attractive places,
and a ritual every palate is willing to try. The chilly weather is forgotten for a
while when the tea aromas and the delicious Welsh pastries invite a refreshing
meal. The black cake, a specialty from Chubut, bread and scones, and marmalade
made of local fruits, are part of this true «tea ceremony».

With British style but Criollo indeed
Even though in Argentina the «mate» is top in the
ranking of the infusions chosen for breakfast and the
afternoon snack, tea has won a special place within the
hearts and palates of the locals.
So much so that there are very good places where it
is possible to taste the different varieties which
combined, make exquisite blends seducing with their
flavor and aroma.

Asian art
The ceremony Japan celebrates in connection with this
infusion, has given the rite an «art» category. And for agood reason: it is an artistic performance starred by the
host who treats his guests with a nice cup of tea, served
with valuable utensils part of the celebration. Any
important event is worth celebrating, drinking some tea,
and sharing a unique moment with friends, away from
everyday life and its problems.
Harmony, reverence, purity and calmness are the four
elements representing the incarnation of the tea
ceremony or «chanoyu» in the Eastern country, which
origin dates back to medieval times: according to
documented historical sources, tea was first brought to
Japan from China in the 8th century. In those days, it was
used as an infusion with medicinal properties as well.
Tea virtues
All teas come from the same plant, the Camelia
Sinensis which, after several processes, produces the
different tea varieties: white (the first sprouts), green,
blue, red or black which are consumed in single state or
obtained from different blends.
The high concentration of nutrients and antioxidants
make it an affordable and more than healthy option.
Among its multiple health benefits and according to a
number of researches, it reduces cholesterol levels,
stimulates the nervous system, controls anxiety, inhibits
appetite, and prevents tooth decay and heart diseases, among others.
Since it´s a beverage with no calories and an
excellent diuretic, green and red tea mostly, it is used as
an aid for weight loss for it favors fat and toxins
reduction and avoids water retention.
Synonymous with distinction in certain times, the fact is
that, now and then, tea has adapted to the different
cultures getting followers all over the world, becoming
part of our delicious daily routine .

Julio Cortázar, where the main
character recalls his experiences
at the caverns of Pasaje Güemes,
a famous gallery located at 165
Florida street.
This historic construction
inaugurated in 1915 was the first
skyscraper of the city and was
considered one of the Art
Noveau exponents. However, its
foundations, the big domes and
sculptured marble retrieve other
meaning for having been once
contemplated by the writer:
«…the passages and galleries
have been my secret country
since ever. (…) Around the yeartwenty eight, Pasaje Güemes was
a cavern of treasure where the
glimpse of sin and mints mixed
delightfully, where the matutine
editions with first-page crimes
were shouted out», tells Julio
Cortazar in «El otro cielo».
After a walk through the
majestic gallery, the journey
continues in Plaza de los Dos
Congresos (Square of The two
Congresses), located on
Rivadavia Avenue, in front of theNational Congress. This green
space was mentioned in Rayuela,
a Cortazar’s novel that was
published in 1963 and was
considered one of the first
surrealistic works of the national
literature.
After walking five blocks along
Callao Avenue, you find «La
Opera» (The Opera) Bar, were
the poet Leopoldo Lugones in
Estampas Porteñas (Porteñas
Stamps) dedicated some verses tothe intersection of Callao and
Corrientes Avenues, where this
traditional bar is situated.
In order to continue with the
literary journey, it is necessary to
take the metro line D to Plaza
Italia (Italy Square) and get to
Palermo neighborhood where
Jorge Luis Borges was born. This
broadly known writer spent his
childhood at 2135 Serrano street
–currently Jorge Luis Borges- and
the memory of its corners,
constructions and streets were
immortalized in many of his
stories.
In «La ceguera» (The
blindness), within the book Siete
noches (Seven nights) whichgathers many of his conferences,
Borges mentioned one of the
touristic attractions of his
neighborhood, the zoo: «…I
remember that when I was a child
(if my sister is here, she will also
remember it) I spent time in front
of the cages of the Palermo zoo,
specifically the tiger’s and the
leopard’s cages. The golden and
black of the tiger held me up for
so long; even now the yellow is
still in my mind ...»Walking along the corners that
seem to be taken out from a fairy
tale, or sitting to have a coffee
and imagine the dialog between
the characters of a novel, is just
one of the many options that the
city of Buenos Aires offers and
that are waiting for those curious
literary tourists who want to jump
from fiction to reality .

The healing powers of the Guatraché´s lagoon
were already known by the year 1917. A
pamphlet dating that time recommended its
minerals, which were sold in the Buenos Aires´
pharmacies and cured chronic rheumatism,
arthritis, lumbago, and eczemas.
Such importance it had that, in 1991, the
Cámara de Diputados de la Provincia de La Pampa
declared the lagoon and its surroundings
Protected Area.
The hot spring center is fully equipped for the
visitors comfort. It boasts single cabins, central
heat, personalized assistance, rooms with private
bathroom, and a restaurant.
Spa, mud therapy, and hydrotherapy are some
of the relaxing and esthetics-oriented options you
can experience in this fantastic place.
Another must-visit is the Parque Recreativo
Samuel Novik, suitable for camping, water sports,
and walks across the lagoon’s area.
The lagoon offers a great variety of photo-
worthy birds that will amazed you, home to
species such as flamingos, double collared
plovers, lapwings, black-necked swans, and
different species of ducks.
Mennonite Colony: A journey back in time
Only 27,71 miles from the city´s downtown,
tourists can visit the Mennonite Colony «La
Esperanza», accompanied by a guide authorized
by Mennonite colonists.
Notable for leading a simple life, we can
mention among their main activities: cheese
making, carpentry, metallurgy, and milking farm.
Mennonites belong to the most ancient
evangelical churches, and in 1527 appeared as
a «radical wing» of the Protestant Reformation.
Its radical views had to do with the political
separation between the Church and the State,
believers´ baptism, no violence, conscious objection
to war, and with the nature of Church as a
community of disciple of Jesus engaged in a life
style of holiness.
They arrived in Argentina in 1985 from
Mexico, Bolivia and Paraguay escaping from the
excesses of modern life, setting a 24.710,54-acre
colony with gates surrounded by pines and
cypresses, and light-blue black or ocher-yellow
colored houses made of adobe or bricks with
perfectly neat front gardens exhibiting flowers
and plants.
Mennonite families´ food is varied and well-
balanced: generally, they eat what they
produce however, they also buy some
supplies from the shops located inside the
colony or in other shops from the towns or
cities they visit.
Guatraché, a privileged place within the
vast Pampa geography, perfectly combines
relaxation, history and the coexistence of
cultures turning it into an oasis for eagerly
visitors looking to rediscover the essence of
life .

Trabajadora incansable y profesional disciplinada,
indumentaria femenina Adriana Costantini.
parte de mi carrera, ‘tuvieron ojo’ para descubrirme;
me dijeron: «vos tenés que ser modelo». Y decidí
probar.
ellas. Yo siempre fui transparente, me mostré siempre
identificadas conmigo, me respetan mucho. Uno las
transporta a otro mundo: cuando estás maquillada y

con vestidos divinos, las llevas a un
lugar mágico. Siento que viajan
conmigo.
producto.
-¿Qué te llevó a incursionar en el
cine, el teatro y la actuación?
-Siempre hice lo que quise y
siempre seguí mis pálpitos. Me
gusta, me divierte. Muchos me dicen
futuro?
-Me veo cerca de la gente: sé
que muchos me siguen, que me
disfrutan y se alegran al verme.Esa alegría, esa paz que transmito
es lo que no quiero perder.
Me gustaría hacer un programa
de televisión de turismo y moda;
poder descubrir esos grandes
artistas ocultos y darles una
oportunidad.
Vamos a esperar, no me apuro. A
largo plazo me gustaría seguir

«GET FASHION
ENTHUSIAST» ...
Ingrid comes to our meeting point catching everybody´s eye. Her perfect
measures (90-60-90 cm), her way of walking, her height and beauty are
remarkable noticeable everywhere. With an English punctuality, she greets us with
a big smile, as she had met us before. She sits down and takes off her sunglasses
leaving her beautiful blue eyes exposed.
Born in Oberá, Misiones province, this child of German immigrants arrived in
Buenos Aires fifteen years ago, and from that moment her career wouldn´t stop
growing. She soon became a top model, and one of the Argentine public´sfavorites.
Restless worker and disciplined professional, she has done catwalk modeling for
renowned local and foreign designers such as Versace, Gucci, Armani and Kenzo,
among others. In addition, from 2009, she was chosen by Reebok as an exclusive
celebrity host for Argentina, and is the current face of the women´s fashion brand
Adriana Costantini.

so many brands and designers in
Argentina that each one decides what
to wear or what is comfortable. It is
important women get fashion enthusiasts
and stop caring about what the otherhas to say. They have to choose what
best suits them, comfortable outfits
which give them security. Color
combination is out of fashion, play with
colors!
- In general, there is the common
thought that the fashion world is
competitive…
- It’s not for me. It’s a difficult job
since you need to fulfill several
requirements, to behave, and to be
neat. It’s about a world where you sell
aesthetics and perfection all the time; I
always competed with myself, trying to
improve, to better myself, to be a good
professional and to sell the product.
- How come you ended up acting,
making films, and doing theatre?
- I´ve always done what I wanted
and followed my heart. I feel at ease
doing that. In 2003, I switched to the
variety theatre which helped me to
become more famous and popular.
Then, I could take acting to the catwalk:
people want to see more from me, not
only do I have to show cloths, but also
I´m a character while modeling.
- How do you deal with fame?
- At first, it was rather hard, it was
kind of weird that people knew
everything about my private life but I
became used to it and now I think it´s
fun. Some people say I have
«humanized» this career, that I have
finished with that distant and cold
image models have.
- Which are your future projects?
- I see myself close to people: I know
many of them follow me, like me, and
get happy to see me. The joy, the
peace I communicate is something I
don´t want to lose.
I´d like to do a TV program about
tourism and fashion, to be able to
discover those great hidden artists and
give them a chance. I know the TV is
Cambio de Aire38 |
Yet she always searched for more:
she appeared on TV (as an actress and
hostess), in addition to giving herself the
pleasure of filming and acting together
with important local celebrities like NitoArtaza, Moria Casán, Jorge Guinzburg
and Guillermo Francella.
- Have you ever dreamed of
becoming a model? How were you
discovered?
- I never thought about becoming a
model. It happened at a disco in
Posadas, I had traveled from Oberá to
visit a friend. That night, Elite was there
making a model search, the most
important contest worldwide, where
renowned models like Ana Paula Dutil,
Carola del Bianco and Katya Fux were
present. They feel part of my career
since they «discovered me» and told
me: «you have to be a model», so I
decided to try.
- Apart from beauty, what other
features are necessary to be a model?
- I think personality is more important
than beauty. You need to know how to
sell what you are wearing.
- Why do you think you arouse
admiration among women?
- I feel that, and love it for I work for
them. I’ve always showed myself the
way I am, showed them what I do,
perhaps I’m like a «deluxe sales
woman». They often feel identified with
me, respect me a lot. One takes them
away: when they see you wearing
make up and all dressed up with
wonderful outfits, you take them to a
magic place. I feel they travel along
with me.
- When it comes to dressing, what’s
your opinion about the Argentine
woman?
- However there is a daring pushy
group, in general, the Argentine woman
is insecure. I think she is always caring
about what the other women have to
say rather than thinking what to wear.
Fashion introduces newly and creative
proposals into the world of design but
still we choose what to wear. There are
now looking for another kind of show
still, there is a big audience eager to
watch other stuff.
We shall wait; there is no need to
rush. I want to keep in contact with
fashion in the long run, producing and
creating things.
- Because of your career you have the
chance to travel nation and worldwide.
How do you see Argentina as regards
tourism?
- Argentina could only live with the
services it offers, we have everything
here. I believe in this country, and know
the production of each area. Europeans
are delighted with our country; Argenti-
na has been in fashion for several
years: I was in Paris last year and could
see they are really fond of tango. Of
course there are many things we should
do better; however, it not always
depends on political parties but on us
as citizens. When you travel abroad
you realize how beautiful our country
is, we are a young nation. Internalconsumption needs to be improved
promoting tourism and local products
which boast excellent quality. We can
stand alongside other tourist destinations
of the world .
