On the Campus (I)

• Be COURTEOUS to everyone at all times.

• Greet all teachers and staff whenever you meet them. (你好 /您好 )

• Show sensitivity and respect when you are speaking with the teachers or interacting with the students.

• 讲华语

On the Campus (II)

• Pay attention during lessons. • PARTICIPATE actively and show

the spirit of camaraderie in all activities.

• Always warm-up before you engage in sporting activities.

• Be PUNCTUAL for all activities.

On the Campus (III)

• Be properly and smartly attired at all times.

• Be proactive and responsible .

• Bear in mind that you are the AMBASSADOR of HCI & Singapore.

During Outings (I)• Follow instructions given by

teachers and tour leaders.• Be tolerant of fellow group members

& travellers. • Look out for one another’s safety.• Look out for vehicles coming your

way.• You’re not ‘IRON MAN’!

During Outings (II)

• Be respectful and considerate of the customs & traditions of the host country.

• Refrain from making insensitive comments. ( 哎呀，中国是这样的！ )

• Don’t walk in the middle of the road or crowd-up the whole walk-way.

• You do not own the road!

During Outings (III)• Never stray from the group. If

you need to go to the toilet, inform the teacher(s).

• In case of emergency, report to the teacher(s) immediately.

• Take care of your personal belongings.

• Beware of pickpockets.

During Outings (IV)

• Be aware of your surroundings.

• Do not be unwittingly caught up in situations, e.g. street fights and demonstrations.

• Take note of entry and exit points of buildings and places of interests.

In the Dormitory (I)

• Keep rooms clean and tidy at all times.

• Keep your personal belongings properly. Do not leave them all over the place or occupy other people’s spaces.

• Keep the toilet clean - always flush or wash after use.

• Spare a thought for your room mates.

In the Dormitory (IV)

• Switch off the lights, fans and heater when you leave the room.

• Do not walk around bare-footed or sit on the floor directly.

• Be considerate as we are not the only occupants in the dormitory.

During Home Stay (I)• Be respectful of your hosts’

culture, practices and personal space.

• Be appreciative of what your hosts are able to provide for your stay.

• Speak with your hosts politely if there is something you are uncomfortable with.

• Inform your hosts if you are ill.

During Home Stay (II)• Engage your hosts in conversation.• Participate in the activities they

have planned.• Be a good house guest.

– Keep your room/space neat and tidy.– Return to the same place things you

have borrowed.– Help in chores wherever you can,

e.g. washing dishes.

At ALL Times…

• NO GAMBLING.• NO CONSUMPTION of ALCOHOL.• Inform your teachers-in-charge

immediately if you or your room mates are sick, do not feel well or have injured yourself.

Demerit Point SystemDemerit Point System•For minor offencesminor offences, start with 11 demerit point. Higher demerit points should be given for repeat cases, subject to the maximum stipulated.

•For major offencesmajor offences, start with 3 to 3 to 10 10 demerit points. Higher demerit points should be given for repeat cases, subject to the maximum stipulated.

Minor OffencesMinor OffencesMisconduct (Max. 4 demerit points)• Disturbing the peace within the school

premises• Late for school / Fieldtrips • Lying to teachers or other misbehaviour• Non compliance to instruction• Playing / Rowdy behaviour• Playing card games in school• Refusal to do duties• Taunting, quarrelling or scuffling etc.

Uncivilized Behaviour：• Defaming people, especially teacher(s)• Harassing / insulting / verbally abusing

people, especially teacher(s)• Open defiance and rudeness to

teacher(s)• Using obscene / foul language or

vulgarities

(Max. 10 demerit pts and/or not more than 5 strokes of the cane)

Criminal Offence：• Instigating trouble(s)• Arson / Vandalism / Damaging school

property• Bullying / Harassing / Causing hurt to

other person• Extortion / Fighting /Insulting modesty

etc• Possession of dangerous items or

weapons• Possession of pornographic materials

• Will be added to ISP Demerit Points system upon return to Singapore

• Caning, if necessary, will be meted out by Discipline Committee teachers
