A  Voyage  in  Faith  and  Learning    Dear St. Paul Families and Friends,

Yesterday, students grades second and sixth hosted a beautiful Mass in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Fr. David reminded us that Mary appeared to Juan Diego to guide people to her son Jesus. It is a good reminder for us to remember to turn to Him in prayer, not only in time of need, but in thanksgiving for the many blessings in our life.

At the end of Mass, we honored Mrs. Krush, our administrative assistant, who will be retiring next week. Mrs. Krush has spent more than twenty years serving in the ministry of Catholic education at St. Paul. We presented her a gift from our community. It was a wooden chair with a special inscription on it. We chose the following quote from Saint Teresa of Calcutta “If we pray, we will believe; If we believe, we will love; If we love, we will serve.” We felt this quote was perfect because we know that Mrs. Krush is a very faith-filled person and she shares that faith with us each day, she loves with her whole heart and that emulates in her care for each one of us, and because she has a servant attitude.

We will miss Mrs. Krush. Her last day will be Wednesday, December 19. Please join me in thanking her for the time she has given to our community. I also ask that you keep her in prayer as she begins this new adventure in her life. Thank you, Mrs. Krush, and congratulations on your retirement!

Again, many thanks to everyone that was able to make it to a kick-off event for the capital campaign “A Voyage Into the Future” at St. Paul Church and School. I am so excited about the vision for our school and church that has been created through the development of the Master Plan. Not only will the new facilities enhance the learning experience for current students of St. Paul, but those for many generations to come. What a wonderful opportunity we have to pay forward the gift of this school that we received from parishioners and school parents over sixty years ago. Thank you for prayerfully considering what your family may be able to do to support the campaign. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Last week’s staff luncheon, hosted by all of our parents, was a true treat for the staff. Special appreciation goes to Rebecca Culver, chair of the PTC Outreach and Hospitality committee, who organized the event. We enjoyed the opportunity to slow down in our day and spend time together. We were treated to some amazing food and desserts, and are grateful for the generous gifts that were given to each one of us. On behalf of our entire staff, thank you for this extraordinary Christmas gift to all of us from all of you. Finally, next Wednesday evening, we will gather together as a community at our annual Christmas Program to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I love hearing the sounds of the season as so beautifully sung through the voices of our students. Earlier this week you received an email from Mrs. Krush detailing the plans for the night. Please review it as it includes not only details about the night’s performance, but for rehearsal at the Shedd the morning of.

In Christ’s Peace, Kelli Braud
