A lot of competitors had a hard time in the testing conditions of the first day. Not Frederico Morais, itwas just another honest day of work. The result was the same as if the waves were perfect.

Há mais de 10 anos Justin Mujica venceu uma etapano Guincho em ondas muito parecidas a estas. Algo

nos diz que, se o mar no último dia se tivesse mantidocomo aqui, a nova geração teria de dar o

litro para o impedir de repetir o feito.

Edgar Nozes esperava “limpar” o mau resultado de Ribeira d’Ilhas com um excelente em Carcavelos. A mudança para o Guincho não o beneficiou mas“Eddy” não deixou de mostrar bom surf.

Edgar Nozes hoped to replace the memory of his bad result in Ribeirad’Ilhas with an excelente finish in Carcavelos. The event moved to Guinchoand his great result didn’t happen but he still surfed really well.

A great result would have taken this Guincholocal, Zé Ferreira, into the lead of the ratings.An average score “only” got him tied withRuben Gonzalez in third place.

Um bom resultado no Guincho poderia até re-sultar na liderança da Liga para Zé Ferreira.Um resultado mediano, para o nível que apre-sentou nas fases anteriores, garantiu-lhe o em-pate em terceiro lugar com Ruben Gonzalez.

Despite having a cast on his arm Ivo Cação didn’t get any simpathy from the judgingpanel. It didn’t matter, he didn’t have any simpathy for the waves either.

Os juízes não deram pontos extra a Ivo Cação por ter o braço engessado. Não faz mal, Ivotambém não deixou de atacar as ondas com menos intensidade por estar lesionado.

SuperGrom Guilherme Fonseca would have been in a pretty good spot if the contest kept going insmall waves at Carcavelos. But the change of location didn’t affect much this 14 year old and withmoves like this he made it to the quarter finals.

Devido à sua estatura, Guilherme Fonseca, seria um dos principais favorecidos caso o campeonato ti-vesse ficado nas pequenas ondas de Carcavelos. Mas a mudança não o prejudicou e o surfista de 14anos chegou aos quartos de final com manobras como esta!

Nicolau Von Rupp veio directamente de Bali para esta etapa e, apesar de alguns percalços nas pri-meiras fases, a verdade é que não precisou de se adaptar muito às condições. No fim ficou a preci-sar de passar por mais um salão destes para avançar mais um heat.
