Vida, Vento, Vela.
Elas transitam levando o pensamento e trazendo inspirações.
Algumas delas proporcionam renovadoras viagens.

onde o Gran Marquise nasceu.
conforto.
Um trabalho de delicadezas.

Life, wind, SaiL
Looking out the window, from up high.
The line of the horizon almost draws a curve. The sky and the sea play at mixing greens and blues. You can count the boats, with their sails gathered in or blown by the wind, one by one. You can even classify them in their comings and goings, at the beach and the harbor: small fishing sailboats, mid-sized fishing boats, large pleasure boats, gigantic cruise ships – that look so small from a distance.
Some windows have the capacity to go beyond the landscape. They move here and there, taking thought and bringing inspirations. Some of them provide refreshing voyages.
They are transatlantic windows.
The Mucuripe of Fagner's song is the same of Raimundo Cela pictures, which is the same of the photographs of Chico Albuquerque and the documentary by Orson Welles. It is all the same and it is all true.
A place that has the salty smell of the sea, but sweetens the eyes of those who see it, blessing the life of those who feel it.
This is the place where the Gran Marquise was born. And it is where the Hotel has fulfilled its destiny of providing comfort, receiving with mastery, embracing with kindness.
The work of making dreams of hospitality, cuisine, pleasure, events, business, relaxation, of the most absolute comfort come true.
A work of delicacy.

As dunas branqui-

State of grace
Those who come to Ceará know – or at least they
suspect – that a list of incredible landscapes is
waiting for them. The white dunes, the fishing boat
gliding on the sea, the endless coconut trees, the
impressive cliffs. And a happy, busy Fortaleza, full of
options.
The good surprise is that Ceará delivers to its visitors
even more than it offers, much more than they
expect.
Because there really is no way to define the
sensations like the warmth – of the sun, the sea,
the people, of a sincere smile. There is no way to
describe the touch of the wind, strong or subtle –
on the skin, in the flight of the kite surf, the sail of a
boat.
There simply is no way to simplify our state as just a
place of beautiful beaches.
Yes, there are 570 kilometers of coastline. And what
a coastline.
But Ceará is also the wasteland, the sertão, with all
its history, its devotion, the enchantment of its pious
pilgrims and religious pilgrimages. Ceará is also a
mountain range, surprising beauties and so close to
Fortaleza, with its flowers, its cultural attractions, its
pleasant climate.
And, far beyond the cuisine, revered for its
sophisticated simplicity, there is an unforgettable
flavor: humor. The good humor of the Ceará
native always makes the tourists smile when they
remember this place.
It seems that, in Ceará, people live in a state of
grace.

Algumas EstrelasO sol acorda no porto e vai dormir na baía
do Mucuripe.
32 33
Some StarS
The sun rises in the harbor and goes to sleep in Mucuripe Bay.
Between those two moments there stretches an incredibly green sea,
fishing boats that come and go, white and welcoming sands.
A delicious and inviting outing, where tourists from all corners of the
world meet with fishermen, artisans, swimmers, weekend athletes,
cyclists, people who know how to live..
The Beira Mar Avenue of the restaurants, beach kiosks, fairs, sports
courts, roller skates, fishing boats and surf boards..
Mucuripe is a bit of all this and more. It is, without a doubt, one of the
most iconic neighborhoods of Fortaleza. All of its originality, beauty
and the stories it has to tell, all this is part of a privileged location.
It is an honor to be a part of the landscape and the history of this place.
A five star presence in a five star location.

of deLicacy
Running a hand delicately over the precise folds
of a sheet. Feel the softness and the clean smell of
the sheets. Let yourself be drawn in by the absurd
softness of this sheet.
For twenty years, the Hotel Gran Marquise has kept
the secret of great hospitality, a pleasant reference:
dedicating great attention to small details.
It seems like a paradox, but the best memories
come precisely from the small gestures of kindness,
the simplest shows of respect.
42
44 45
47
Boa noite, bom dia.
exclusiva da Guest Relations, o apartamento sempre fresquinho,
o sorriso, o café expresso, o banho gostoso, o sono reparador.
49
SimpLe refinement
Being received without wasting time at the check-in
is always very good. But to find waiting for you – in
the comfort of your suite – a selection of tropical
fruits, a relaxing massage and a welcome drink is,
let’s say, a very stylish kindness.
Sleeping in a comfortable bed, firm and soft in
its Egyptian cotton sheets is really very good. But
choosing the pillow from a menu with over 10
choices is a very special and refined touch.
Good night, good day
The chocolate waiting on the bed, the robe that
embraces you, the personalized breakfast, the
beach bag, the exclusive governance of Guest
Relations, the always cool apartment, the smile,
the espresso, the relaxing bath, the restoring sleep.
Staying at the Gran Marquise is living with greater
intensity the delicious experience of being
pampered, welcomed.
Small gestures of a Gran Class style of hospitality.
50
E, no decorrer do dia, no
além do sushi.
E o Nostradamus, reconhecido restaurante internacional, leva a
56 57
59
gran gourmet
Historically, fine cuisine had its birth in the
restaurants of luxury hotels.
Splendid, right? Modern cuisine was born of the
ancient traditions of hospitality; to "serve well" is,
so to speak, the number one sustenance of "good
hospitality."
What would be of a good night's sleep if it weren't
for breakfast, which promises a good day? And
during the day, as the new night falls, what would
be of the menu if there weren't a list of delicious
possibilities?
At the Gran Marquise restaurants, there is a balance
between innovation and tradition, between
informality and refinement. It is very good when the
surprise at every visit goes hand in hand with the
certainty of a good meal.
Every great hotel knows how to value flavor.
The Mucuripe menu has inspirations from the typical
cuisine of Ceará, where fish has center stage. The
regional cuisine comes together with fine dining in
delicious options of pasta, risottos, grilled meats and
salads.
The Mangostin does a tour through Asian cooking,
going far beyond just sushi. The chef seems to
play with the possibilities of Asian cuisine, creating
surprising dishes from Korea, Japan, China and
Thailand.
And the Nostradamus, a renowned international
restaurant, takes France to the menu in a deliciously
peculiar manner – and it can't stop collecting stars
and awards.
At the Gran Marquise, every guest is a gourmet.
60 61
a feijoada do Mucuripe é a grande estrela do Gran Marquise.
E qual seria a receita deste sucesso?
som do chorinho, a simpatia no atendimento.
A feijoada do Gran Marquise, então,
64 65
StarfiSh
The jury of a prestigious weekly magazine has given
it awards at least ten times. The city has surrendered
to its flavors. The sound of the chorinho music has
bowed to its rhythm. There is no escaping it: the
feijoada of the Mucuripe is the big star of the Gran
Marquise.
And what would be the recipe of this huge success?
It may be the aperitifs, with the traditional regional
drinks or the list with twenty types of cachaça. The
view of the sea, the sound of the chorinho, the
excellence of the service.
It may be the separate cooking of the meats,
carefully selected. Or the varied buffet that surprises
with cuts and deli meats of lamb and ostrich, with
the jerimum mash and so many other choices.
Based on the principle that few things are so tasty
as a good feijoada on Saturday, the Gran Marquise
went above and beyond.
It also became a true specialist in this subtle art of
making something unforgettable out of the simplest
things. It became unbeatable in the torresmo, the
caldinho, the farofa. It is, without a doubt, also
unbeatable in the smile, the good service. The
feijoada of the Gran Marquise, then, is like this: even
in the collard greens and the sliced orange it has its
special way of doing things.
This must be more or less the recipe of success. The
truth is that there is no way to explain.

A camareira caminha apressada segurando um terno elegante;
70 71
do Gran Marquise.

good hoSpitaLity
The maid walks quickly, holding an elegant suit; she waits for the
elevator, gives up on waiting, runs down the stairs.
She heard that the guest on the fourteenth floor, an important
executive, has a very important meeting tomorrow morning – and that
the suit he is going to wear is rumpled. Since she doesn't like to see a
problem without a solution, she hurries to find a way out.
Behind every important business meeting, there is always someone
who carefully pressed someone's suit. In many cases, and with great
pride, this someone is among the maids of the Gran Marquise.
The secret to good hospitality is so simple that it shouldn't even be
called a secret: it is simply treating people like people, as people
would like to be treated.
High ranking executives, international politicians, celebrities, families
on a tourism trip, people with many demands, people working, people
who just want to relax. Everything is human relations, gestures between
people, and in this too we are all equal. We all want to be treated with
the particularities that make us different from each other.
The secret of good hospitality is that simple.
The little girl Duda stayed at the Hotel for a long time. Even though
she was on vacation with her parents, she sometimes felt like talking,
without the company of other children, missing her friends in Belo
Horizonte. As she loved to talk on the phone, she didn't hesitate: at the
exalted age of four, she picked up the phone and kept talking with the
employees of the Guest Service of the Gran Marquise.
When she left, Duda'a mother left a letter (illustrated by the girl), telling
about how she appreciated the attention received, and how she would
never forget the affection.
The truth is that the Guest Service team to this day misses their
conversations with little Duda.

pessoal do Hotel trabalha.
Casamentos, formaturas, palestras, encontros sociais e profis-
sionais, todo tipo de cerimoniais. Os eventos são “as meninas
dos olhos” do Hotel.
Eles pulsam, comovem.
espaço à mínima dobra do guardanapo, do máximo aparato

the dream event
Do you know what's in the sparkle of a bride's eyes?
There is the luminosity of a dream come true, a
touch of tears of happiness, a pinch of fear (because
being happy is also scary). And there are several
sparks of love and anxiety.
There is all this in the sparkle in a bride's eyes. But
there can also be the reflection of a perfect job
carried out during your wedding party. It is for this
glow in the eyes that the Hotel staff work for.
In a wedding, nothing – nothing – can go wrong.
This involves almost two years of planning, and the
infinite minutiae, all of them, belonging to the order
of dreams.
A dream has to be perfect.Weddings, graduations,
lectures, social and professional gatherings, all kinds
of ceremonies. The events are the "apples in the
eyes" of the Hotel. They pulse, move. They are huge
challenges, in which our team is only satisfied if
everything runs perfectly. Nothing less than that.
The Gran Marquise events team loves this:
exceeding expectations.
After all, what professional team doesn't like
receiving recognition for a job well done? From the
great solution of the use of space to the minimal
fold of a napkin, from the greatest technological
devices to the perfect flavor of a chocolate truffle,
everything is a motive to dedicate one's self. In the
same measure.
You would be surprised with how much care one
can put into every tiny detail of a big event.

No
conhecem a dieta e o gosto do casal.

The records speak for themselves.
Actors, actresses, entire casts. Singers, full bands.
Important politicians, from Brazil and abroad.
Writers, movie directors, athletes, models,
comedians.
Not all the famous people who came through
our Hotel had the chance to leave their written
testimonial. Those who did, however, did so with
sincerity, recognition and kindness.
Gestures we value and share.
Second home
Married for 44 years, they are very much in love:
one for the other, both for travel in general and for
Fortaleza in particular.
Their routine of good living: three months at their
home in São Paulo, three months in Fortaleza, at the
Gran Marquise. Then again in São Paulo and so forth.
They've been doing this for nearly twenty years.
At the restaurant, there is always a table waiting,
reserved, the same one for years, set just the way
they like it.
The service is special – how could it not be – and the
menu follows the adequate nutritional diet. Once in
a while, the Hotel chefs prepare a different dish and
surprise them; they can do this, for they know well
their diet and the couple's tastes.
More than guests, they are owners of the house.
They are known by all the employees, from the
cleaning staff to management. They are our very
special friends, who love being with us just as we love
to receive them.
In one of their many departures from Fortaleza, the
couple received a note from the staff, saying:
“Longing is more than missing someone... Longing is
wanting your presence, the smile, the good morning,
the simple things that make life together a joy. To Dr.
Jaime and Mrs. Emília, our affection and gratitude for
your presence."

sorrisos emocionados.

a capitão-porteiro. Tem muito orgulho de ser o
primeiro receptivo do Hotel: “o primeiro sorriso
apare. Dicas, soluções e gentilezas é com ele
mesmo, inclusive em inglês. Ali não tem tempo
ruim nem bad time.
20 anos – a bebê daqueles tempos. A Fran
pelas pessoas.

our peopLe
Some professionals have been with us since the
beginning of it all. Imagine that it is nearly twenty
years of being together: growing together, learning
together.
Wanderlan, who started in security, remembers well
when the hotel opened, that he could feel a good
energy, that something important was being born –
and also for his own professional life. Now working
in the Finance Sector, Wanderlan distributes the
dividends of his good energy to the entire staff.
Acélio, from the purchasing sector, likes to watch
movies in which hotels appear and recognize all the
details of his workplace: the glamour, yes, but also
the care, the attitude in the care for the guests and
even the running around to make everything right. For
him, who has had to provide very unusual purchases
in impossible deadlines, the daily routine can really
seem like a movie.
Rosa went through housecleaning, worked in the
laundry, as a maid, prepared the tapioca and became
a cook. Today she takes care of the salads and fruits.
At her home, close to the hotel, she keeps hidden a
collection of nearly twenty years of memories: notes,
photos, newspaper cuttings. But Rosa doesn't hide
her pride at having her horizons expanded through
work; she shows this through her moved smiles.
Marcos was the first messenger of the Gran Marquise,
and this was his first job. That was 20 years ago.
During the interview, with the Hotel still under
construction, they asked him how he would get to
a certain address, and he answered he would seek
information. One tiny detail: the address was on the
street where he lived. Though he was nervous, he
got the job, worked for several departments and now,
a graduate in Business Management, works for the
Treasury.
Dorgival is really a character. He started as a janitor,
was a valet, and then, after six years, was promoted
to captain of the doormen. He takes great pride in
being the first welcoming face in the Hotel: "the first
smile the guest sees is mine, so I make the most of
it." There isn't a problem that Dorgival's congeniality
can't make better. Tips, solutions and kindnesses are
his specialty, even in English. With him there is no bad
mood or a bad time.
And there's Fran, from Finance. She started at the
Hotel when it was still being constructed, when her
youngest daughter was only three months old. Today,
she is a mother of a 25 year old engineer and a 20
year old Advertising student – the baby from those
days. Fran credits the good education she gave her
children to the opportunities she had at the Hotel. We
credit it to her capacity for doing the best for people.
Almost 20 years at the Hotel, just like Fernando, João,
Rogério, Raimundo, Joacélio, Magela, Carlos, Édson,
Jussieudo, Sílvia. There are many names, friends,
partners. It would be impossible to name them all.
They are so many, all of them our people; sweet
characters, rare figures.
What we can do is to register here, for all our staff, a
great big thank you.
We wouldn't be what we are without great partners.
Quase 20 anos no Hotel, assim como o Fernando, o João, o
Rogério, o Raimundo, o Joacélio, a Magela, o Carlos, o Edson,
o Jussieudo, a Sílvia.
