We have had a lot of wet students in
single layer tents!!
Single layer tents (where the base is attached
to the outer skin) should be avoided as
anywhere that the tent is touched from the
inside loses its water resistance.
We have had a lot of under equipped
students with very small rucksacks!!
Even though it looks like a hiking rucksack,
it doesn’t hold 60 litres so there is not enough
space to share out the group equipment
fairly.
We have had a lot of wet footed students wearing the wrong footwear!!
Trainers, converse or basket ball shoes are not appropriate for the walking required in D of E.
They do not give the support or water resistance needed for muddy uneven terrain.
