Lessons from Imam AS’s Noble Life

1. SPIRITUAL

Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) said: "Hasan bin Ali (AS) was certainly the most true worshipper, ascetic and merited man among the

people of his time.“

"Hasan would do his ablution, he would tremble and his face would turn pale. When asked he replied: 'It is only natural that one who stands in the presence

of the Lord of the Throne turns ashen, and trembles...'"

When approaching the door of the mosque, Imam AS would say:'O Lord! Your guest is at Your gate. O Generous! The transgressor has come to You. Forgive me

my ugly deeds with Your Generosity. O Generous!‘

8 benefits of going to a mosque:

i. Getting to know one of the decisive verses.ii. Finding a beneficial brother.iii. Fresh knowledge.iv. A mercy waiting for him.v. A word leading to the guidance.vi. An admonition averting from sin.vii. Not committing sin out of scheme.viii. Not committing sin for the fear of Allah.

Imam wept when he remembered: Death, Grave and remembering Qiyamah he would faint.

While reciting Quran, coming across a verse saying “O who you believe….”Imam AS would say:“Here I am, my Lord, here I am...”

What do we learn:a. To become more GOD conscious (acquire TAQWA)b. Be careful and give lot of attention to Salaac. Have a mosque and it reminds/helps to remind us….d. Remember DEATH, GRAVE and the Day of JUDGEMENT a lote. Holy Quran….

2. KNOWLEDGE

a. "What is asceticism?" "The desire to be pious and to be moderate in eating and drinking in this life,"

b. "What is forbearance?" "Restraining one's anger and controlling oneself,"

Key points:1. Control anger2. Control on oneself…

c. "What is righteousness?" "Replacing the bad with the good,"

Key point:1. Always do more good and replace good with

bad

d. What is honor? "Being kind to one's relatives and shouldering people's burdens of sin.“

Key points:1. Maintain relationship with relatives

e. "What is the succour?(assistance)"Defending the neighbor, patience in war, and advance during adversities,"

Key points:1. Good relations with neighbors2. Patience during testing times

f. "What is glory?" "Giving while being in debt and forgiving others their offences."

Key points:1. Helping even when you have challenges2. Forgiveness

g. "What is manliness?""Holding onto the faith, keeping one's self-respect, being merciful, being kind, giving back people's trusts, and ingratiating oneself to the people.

Key points:Iman, Self respect, kindness, trustworthy….

3. ETHICAL:

Syrian’s behavior and Imam’s reaction.

4. GENEROSITYImam AS had the worldly possessions at his disposal and could have well enjoyed a luxurious life, but he utilized all of it in the betterment of the condition of the poor. Twice Imam AS gave all of his wealth.

When asked why he never refuses a beggar, Imam AS replied: "I am asking Allah for His favors, and I love to be near Him. I am ashamed, as I am myself in need of Allah, to repulse a beggar.Allah got me used to a habit; to shower me with His bounties, and I get Him used to me showering His bounties on the people. I fear that should I stop my habit, He may stop His habit."

ب-ا إ"& ش#  And when you are greeted with a greeting, greet with a better (greeting) than it or return it; surely Allah takes account of all things.

5. ANGER MANAGEMENTSlave girl drop a bowl of hot soup on Imam AS…She immediately recited the Ayah: "...Those who control (their) anger..." Imam Hasan (a.s.) smiled and said he was not angry. Then she recited the next part of the Ayah: "...And are forgiving towards people..." Imam Hasan (a.s.) said he had forgiven her. She then finished the Ayah: "...Allah loves those who do good..." Imam Hasan (a.s.) told her she was free.

Surat Ale Imran Verse 134:

ك� ش� شوال � إ/ ش��ا ال إ! ش� ش! إ)& ش0ا يل شوا ش1 ي& ش2 يل ا ش! إ3& إ4 ش5ا يل شوا إ� �6ا ش ش�7 شوال إ� �6ا ش ش�" ال إ)� ش� ك8و إ9 ي� ك: ش! إ;: �ل ش اش! إ�& إ" ي' ك3 يل ا ك�> إ' ك:

Those who spend (benevolently) in ease as well as in straitness, and those who restrain (their) anger and pardon men; and Allah loves the doers of good (to others).

Words of wisdom:1. I wonder those who think about their body's

food, but do not think about their soul's food, they keep away disturbing food from their belly, but fill up their heart with destructive subjects

2. The greatest forgiveness and pardon of Allah comes when the sinner is not able to make a pretext for his wrong doing.
