Beginning

First number was published on March 27, 1951. The newspaper was named 'Pergalė' ( 'The

Victory') . Articles and other texts were written by hand. In 1961 newspaper's name was changed to

' Mūsų žodis' ('The Our Word') .

Printing

In 1962 a printing typesetting machine - a typesetter was started to use.

Statistics

At the beginning it was a weekly release. In 1953 it had 1000 readers and was released

three time s a week. In 1990 it had 8000 readers. Now it has is released twice a week and has

about 4000 readers.

'Mūsų žodis' also has its online edition and a Facebook page.

https://www.facebook.com/musuzodis/ On Tuesdays is released a special addition for

Samogitian region 'Vakarų Lietuva' (' The Western Lithuania') together with 6 other regional newspapers.

Publishing was fully computerized in 1997. Today the staff's work is unimaginable without a

recorder and a computer on each worker's table.
