Nirupama – Peerless / Incomparable/ Unequalled.

Guna - Attribute / Quality.Sadana – Realization / Possessing gifts.

Charana – In a patricular large number.

The one who possesses the gifts of incomparable qualities in a large number.

Observation 2:

Neeraja – Lotus.Dala – Petal / Piece.Nayana – guiding / Eye.

Lotus petals symbolize detachment : though the lotus stays in water, it doesn’t absorb water. It maintains its purity.

The one whose eyes are like lotus petals.

Observation 3:Aasha – Orangish.Ambara – Clothing.Vesha – Role in a play.Dharana – rending /possessing.Kali Yuga Avatara – Avatar in Kali Age.

Swami lived like one among us : eating, joking, sleeping, .. But His reality is completely concealed from us. He has such supreme acting skills.

The one who adorned the orange robe and played a role in this drama of life, making even those close to him

forget that He is actually an Avatar.

Nithya – Forever.Ranjana – Charming / Rejoicing.We all have seen people who are

charming. But how long does it last ? When problems come, all the charm is lost. But Swami is charming forever irrespective of situation.

The one who is forever charming.

Nirmala – Pure / Spotless / Virtuous.Charitha – Career / Story.This planet has seen a lot of great people

with marvellous stories. But, even the most righteous among them have, at certain times, gone off the track. But Swami’s life story doesn’t have such blemishes. It is simply spotless.

The one who has lived a spotlessly virtuous life.

Nirupama ( already discussed )Yogendra – adept at yoga.

The one who is incomparably adept at yoga.

Observation 7:

Mahadeva – A Great DeityNataraja – King among Dancers.Viraja – Brilliance / Supreme Intellect.

The one who is Great among deities.The one who is the King among

dancers.The one who has a supreme intellect.

Observation 8:Aasha – Desire. Paasha – cord/rope/chain.Naasha – destroyer.Isha – capable of / powerful / faculty.

The ultimate illusion in life is to think that there is something that we need to

achieve/acquire/do/build/prove/... to find fulfilment .

Here is someone who can remove us from that vicious cycle.

The one who has the power to destroy the cord of desire which binds us.

Observation 9:

This bhajan brings out the fact that “shiva” is the supreme one.

Each one of the 9 qualities are considered as the “nirupama gunas “ or “unequalled/matchless qualities”.
