Smarter online ticketing
Renfe - one of Spain’s leading railway operators (external case study)
Having created an online ticketing application based on IBM WebSphere technology, RENFE considered which platform would offer the best support. A long-term user of IBM System z, RENFE has traditionally run all critical applications requiring high availability and excellent response times on its IBM System z platform.

BG-Phoenics - IT infrastructure and software services company in Germany
BG-Phoenics runs Lotus Domino servers for email and collaboration on Linux, hosted on z/VM on the z196 servers. These Lotus Domino servers are connected to IBM CommonStore for Lotus Domino Server, which runs on AIX on the PS701 blades.
Email is still highly important; using Linux makes it costeffective to run this service on the ultra-reliable z196 hardware with the efficiencies of virtualization on z.
