Purpose of ProjectIntroduce 2 semester students to the practical uses of clay, slab construction, glaze, and basic engineering skills, in order to create a piece that actually “WORKS” and has an aesthetic value.

In other words…Make something that works and looks good.

“1.An ACTION PLAN will be turned in before any work can be started. The PLAN must outline the following information:

a. Project Requirementsb. Visual or Written Description of project

c. Steps taken to completed. Glaze colors

Additional Note: The project is/was intended to be a ONE PIECE ceramic project. Your design should describe this either visually or written out. NO MULTIPLE PIECE PROJECTS WILL BE ACCEPTED!!!!

“2. The tea-light candle can continuously burn and can melt the scented wax sufficiently.

a. candle does not need to be lit more than twice

b. the complete cube of scented wax has melted and not drip out of its dish

“3. One of the provided plaster “Stamping Slabs” has been effectively used to create a UNIQUE and PLEASING visual effect.

“4. The “PROJECT” has been glazed properly so that the intent of the student is clearly seen and the AESTHETIC value is represented

“Grading ProceduresOn the deadline date ( FEB 26) you will come to class, place your ACTION PLAN directly underneath your project.

You will light your candle...

● 4 out of 4 requirements met = 100%● 3 out of 4 requirements met = 75%● 2 out of 4 requirements met = 50%● 1 out of 4 requirements met = 25%

Projects will need to be stamped to be fired, as well as glazed properly (clean on the bottom) in order for it to be fired and/or graded.
