AÉRO MONTRÉALTHINK TANK OF THE AEROSPACE CLUSTER
Created in 2006 to boost the productivity and growth of Québec’s aerospace sector, Aéro Montréal brings together all the decision-makers of the aerospace sector from the industry, educational institutions and research centres, as well as associations and unions.
Because it helps to mobilize industry players around common goals, Aéro Montréal contributes to strengthening the position of Québec’s aerospace industry and ensures its competitiveness with other aerospace centres of excellence.
Serving members of the industry, Aéro Montréal establishes concerted and strategic actions through working groups composed of representatives from the industry, the institutional sector, associations, unions and government.
In 2012, the Québec Aerospace Association (AQA) and the cluster came together under the Aéro Montréal banner. This merger, designed to promote a greater synergy among SMEs and other actors in the cluster, has given birth to a sixth working group of Aéro Montréal dedicated to ensuringa greater presence of SMEs from Québec’s aerospace sector at the national and international level.
Working Groups:
• Branding and Promotion• Innovation• Supply Chain Development• Human Resources • National Security and Defence• Commercialisation and Market Development “Aéro Montréal helps to strengthen the position of Québec aerospace industry
and ensure its competitiveness against other industry leaders.” Suzanne M. Benoît, President, Aéro Montréal
AÉRO MONTRÉALSHAPING AEROSPACE “Montréal is the only city in the world where within a 30 km radius you can manufacture
virtually all the components needed to build an airplane.” Gilles Labbé, President and CEO, Héroux-Devtek / Chairman of the Board, Aéro Montréal

This concentration of key players results in an exceptional industrial and research capacity. • Some 212 companies; • More than 42,000 workers; • Montréal, the second capital of the world in terms of density of aerospace jobs with 1 person in 95 whose work is related to the sector; • Sales of $11.7 billion, of which 80% come from exports; • 6th place worldwide in terms of aerospace workforce after the United States, France, Germany, the UK and Italy; • 55% of Canadian aerospace sales; • 70% of total spending on research and development (R&D) performed in Canada
Aéro Montréal Think tank of the aerospace clusterGreater Montréal is part of the aerospace global elite and industry members have established a unique tool for consultation and mobilization: the Aéro Montréal cluster. Comprising companies, educational and research institutions, associations and unions, Aéro Montréal has for over 5 years contributed to accelerating productivity in the aerospace sector, a source of pride and wealth for Québec.
