“Sustainable Development” was officially defined in a report commissioned by the United Nations, called “Our Common Future” in 1987.

“Sustainable Development” is also referred to as the “3E’s” (economy, environment, equity), the “3P’s” (People, Planet, Profit), the “triple bottom line” and “3BL” (triple bottom line).
