Beach stretcher

CONCEPTThe Beach stretcher is a design for a stretcher that is used for rescue at beaches. and near water bodies. It is also houses the Rescue ring.

TECHNOLOGYThe Rotomolding technology is used to produce hollow structures. The Beach stretcher is designed to be used in case of accidents near the water. Therefore to facilitate floating it is produced as a foam filled object using the rotomolding technology.

MATERIALThis product is made out of medium density polyethylene(MDPE) filled with polyurethane foam.PE is one the most widely used polymers in the industry. The long hydrocarbon chain structure makes it suitable for various industrial uses. In case of our product it provides a reasonable amount toughness and excellect chemical resistance. Polyurethane foam further adds strength to the design and is also the best material for flotation. The life buoy’s are filled with polyurethane foam

Material studyPOLYETHYLENE

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE | Light, strong, durable, Economical to fabricate and install

SECONDARY OBJECTIVE | Non-corrosive, Weather resistant, No warping or splinters

POLYURETHANE FOAM

Expanding rigid urethane is a closed cell pourable foam. It can be poured in multiple layers.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE | Flotation

SECONDARY OBJECTIVE | It resists the absorption of water. Used to fill voids.

The MOULD A is then closed on MOULD B tightly so that there is no outlet for the plastic matter during the Rotational process

4.A two part stretcher is build, one with a negetive and one with a positive cavaty to make the stretcher

Heat is then applied to the moulds. In this process the plastic starts to melt inside the shape of the Mould

After heat is applied to the moulds, they are made to Rotate on 1 or 2 differen axis’s at a certain speed. This process is referred to as ROTATIONAL MOULDING

By the time the Rotation stops the melted plastic spreads thoroughly around the walls of the entire mould. Taking the shape of the mould It is then cooled and becomes Hard Plastic.

The moulds are seperated and the product left is the shape of the moulds - The Stretcher.

Stretcher after rotomoulding production with empty void - without Polyurethane.

Foam in form of liquid is poured through a hole into the hollow stretcher.

Liquid foam, takes about 5 min to expand and solidify and take the form of the hollow stretch.

Once the foam is filled up into the stretcher, its ready for use.
