Discovery of Oil in Dubai
• Fishing and pearl-diving supported the region for many centuries.
• Oil was eventually discovered in Dubai in 1966.
• But in small quantities compared to neighbouring states.
• In 1969, Dubai exported oil for the first time.
• It is estimated that Dubai produces 50,000 to 70,000 barrels (11,000 m3) of oil per day
