Additional winter wheat with moderately resistant to stripe rust†
• Azerbaijan: Tale-38
• Georgia: Lomtagora-123, Sauli-9
• Kazakhstan: Egemen, Konditerskaya,
• Kyrgyzstan: Djamin, Zagadka, Petr
• Tajikistan: Alex, Ormon
• Uzbekistan: Dostlik, Yaksart
† There are additional varieties in some countries from nation system
Summary
• Stripe rust resistant winter wheat varieties suitable for Central Asian countries are increasingly becoming available through international collaborations
• Policy emphasis needed on seed multiplication and cultivation of resistant varieties and discourage release and cultivation of susceptible varieties
• Wheat rust research facilities are improving in the Central Asia region, positive development to support international initiative on stripe rust
