WELCOME TOThe DIY Plastics business was founded in 1973, from a barn on a farm in Wantage, Oxfordshire. From the start the company concentrated on plastic sheeting for DIY and home improvement, offered through a catalogue and supplied by mail order over the whole of the UK.

In 1990 we moved our entire business to a large warehouse in Faringdon, on the Oxfordshire/Wiltshire border.

In 2005 DIY Plastics (UK) was purchased by Till and Whitehead Ltd. and subsequently relocated to York

2014 brings a new name, TW Plastics. With over 40 years in the plastics business much has changed, but the company’s key objective remain exactly the same as in 1973:

The materials we sell can be used in scores of industries, schools, museums and research establishments. Trade customers are welcome and a trade account can be set up in 48 hours.

FREE SAMPLES

We’d much rather you are confident in the product you are ordering, rather than having to return the goods because they are not what you expected. Samples of many of our products will cost you nothing. Just phone, email or write in for a sample request.

DISPATCH OF YOUR ORDER

All orders are acknowledged by e-mail or post on day of receipt. We aim to send out all orders within 3-5 working days (subject to stock availability). Please remember many items have to be individually measured, cut and packed, and that there will be further time in transit, usually up to 3 working days. We will, of course, notify you if any item is likely to be out of stock for any length of time.

We use carriers and Royal Mail to send out all of our products and part of any order maybe sent in separate packages, although they will leave us on the same day please allow a few extra days for the complete delivery.

CUTTING SERVICE

We offer a full cut-to-size service for many of our products in this catalogue (straight cuts only) to a tolerance of 3mm. If you are in any doubt please contact us for advice.

EXPRESS DELIVERY

An express delivery service is available for all phone orders received before 12 noon . Unfortunately we can not offer this service on any web orders or any orders to the Highlands, Ireland or any offshore island.

DELIVERY TO YOUR DOOR

All products will be delivered to your door. Our carriage charges apply for mainland UK. For Ireland, Highlands and all offshore islands please contact us to confirm. Please examine your goods on receipt. If you mark the carrier sheet as unchecked we will not be able to claim for the items and it will cost you to replace them. If you sign as damaged and nothing is wrong with your order then nothing is lost. If you choose to ask the courier to leave your item without a signature this is done so at your own risk; if there is any damage we will not be able to accept any claim to replace goods. Any claim for shortage or damage should please be notified to us in writing within 3 days of receipt.

Many varieties of Multiwall are now available. The three best options are – 10mm Twinwall, 16mm Triplewall and 25mm Sixwall: as the sheet gets thicker, so it gets stronger with more effective insulation. FITTINGS & ACCESSORIES

This purpose designed Vent is the perfect answer to those hot polycarbonate roofed conservatories! The inner and outer frames are extruded from high quality windowgrade PVCu, pre-welded for 16mm Triplewall or 25mm Sixwall Polycarbonate sheeting. Fully weatherproofed to BS6375 and BS5368: pt 1, 2 & 3 – severe weather ratings – thanks to integral gaskets and snap in glazing beads. This vent can be fitted to your existing conservatory using the template supplied, and fold right back for access. The telescopic brass opener, supplied as standard, combines generous ventilation with security and can be internally disconnected. It also allows full opening of the roof vent for ladder access and maintenance to adjoining buildings. Remember – you have to keep the ‘cut-out’ material to glaze the roof vent, so put it somewhere safe!

FIXING BUTTONSSimple to use, fix these over a wooden frame to prevent lifting of the sheet or over-tightening of the screws, all the while spreading the stress and allowing movement of the sheet. A foam ring makes it water tight and a plastic cap seals the screw head. Available in white and brown, screws not supplied.

SUPERHEAVYWEIGHT CLEAR 76MM (3”) PROFILE CORRUGATED PVCThis super strong extra heavyweight clear sheet is a hefty 1.3mm thick. Use for commercial and heavy duty domestic roofing applications. Sheets are a standard 760mm (30”) wide, with a 115mm (4 ½”) overlap giving you a 645mm (25 ½”) cover width. All standard 76mm (3”) fittings can be used with these sheets.

EASY TO WORK WITH & MAINTAINSAWING. All corrugated sheets are easily cut with a fine-toothed blade. Hold flat and support the sheet you’re cutting, if possible on a pile of other sheets.

FIXING. Fix sheets at top, bottom and every cross beam. Pre-drill the holes 3mm larger than the fixing screw to allow for thermal expansion.

SUPPORT. Corrugated sheets should be supported by regular timber cross purlins. For a roof pitch of 10 to 15 degrees, place purlins at 450mm centres. For a roof pitch of 15 degrees and over, purlins at 610mm centres should be used.

CLEANING is easy with water and mild detergent.

EPDM FLAT ROOF COVERINGSTRONG, TOUGH BUT EASY TO HANDLEEPDM is a tough black rubber sheeting manufactured to resist the worst of the British weather, the UV degrading effects of sunlight, and most common chemicals. Its rubbery stretch quality takes care of uneven surfaces, and means you can lay straight over the top of old bitumen felt (with underfelt). There’s no glueing, sticking or heatsealing – your EPDM roof cover is simplynailed in place round the edges and along the special fixing flaps, which are spaced roughly every 1.5m (5ft) apart on larger sheets. For smaller or narrower sheets with one dimension less than 1.5m (5ft), edge fixing only is quite sufficient. EPDM does not harden over time, so will not uplift.

ORDERING MADE TO MEASURE Your roof cover can be made in any size or shape, with all seams factory vulcanised and guaranteed waterproof. Underfelt is essential for roofing over concrete or old bitumen felt, and highly recommended for all roofs. Special corner pieces and pipe sleeves make even awkward features simple.

MEASURINGAllow 76mm (3”) overlap on the outside edges, and 152mm (6”) to a wall or upstand. Round up each dimension to the nearest half metre. If in any doubt please send us a rough sketch and we will quote by return.

Glazed with 16mm triplewall UV stabilised polycarbonate sheeting, available in clear bronze or opal tints.The eaves beams cleverly double as integral box gutters, using the support posts as downpipes with the water exiting through the variable height post feet.

The system can accommodate pitches from 5 to 20 degrees. On modular kits the maximum projection is achieved at a pitch of 5 degrees.

CLEAR SEMI-RIGID PVCAT LAST – A CHEAP, FLEXIBLE GLAZING “OFF THE ROLL” FOR GREENHOUSES AND ALL GARDEN WORKOutdoor quality and ideal for greenhouses, especially the Norfolk greenhouse and cold frames. Will last 4-5 years, more in sheltered conditions. Clear semi rigid PVC is horticultural grade offering high light transmission but not perfect optical clarity; for a distortion free material you need clear polyester. Thousands of satisfied customers have installed Newdawn double glazing, manufactured in the UK in white UPVC (which can be painted to match existing décor). With its attractive finish this is a high quality sliding pane system. Easy to clean and maintain, the panels can be removed for window cleaning.MEASURING; To order your Newdawn kit you will need to measure the reveal of your window (the hole into which the window sits) from wall to wall (width) and from lintel to sill (height). Choose your glazing material, and state if there are any requirements such as an existing window mullion you would like matching to the pane position. You will need to include this information and the measurements of the reveal when you order. Please note: all measurements need to be in the format “width x height”. “Please measure carefully, as we will cut to the sizes you supply.

For each two pane sliding unit you’ll need a height pack, a width pack and one assembly pack for windows up to 1830mm x 1220mm (6’x4’), or two assembly packs for larger windows.

The choice of which kit depends partly on the type of existing window and your budget. Each kit contains sufficient fixing systems, the rigid plastic sheet cut to size and full fitting instructions. If you prefer, the fixing systems can be ordered separately, but you’ll then need to order your rigid plastic panes as well. We do not recommend Extruded Acrylic for our NEWDAWN, MAGNET and EASIFIX Fixing Systems due to differing thermal expansion rates and rigidity. Stick on - then peel off whenever you want!

Simple, quick, removable fastening for all semi-rigid and flexible sheeting.

A two part tape which works in a similar way to Velcro®. Each part is self-adhesive - the “loop” or “wool” side sticks to the window frame, and the “hook” side to the edge of the Clear Polyester sheet.

Just touch the two together and the plastic is held in place. Peel it off and re-fix whenever you want: the Polyester can be rolled up and stored (with the Touch & Close still attached) in summer or when not needed.

Touch & Close can also be used with Clear Semi Rigid PVC.

Probably the simplest and quickest way to double-glaze a window! Developed specially for use with plastic glazing panels up to 4mm thick. All you need are a pair of scissors and a tape measure! The glazing panel is edged with self-adhesive magnetic tape which attaches in an instant to the metal strip on the window frame. Easy to put up and take down as required.

Clear Polystyrene is the original utility glazing and offers outstanding value all round the home. Easy to work, with a strip off polythene on both sides for marking and to protect during fitting. Easily cleaned with our PLEXUS cleaner (page 53). Clear Polystyrene is recommended for indoor use only. Ideal for double glazing, sheets must be taken down and stored during the summer to prolong their life.

The original PLASTIC GLASS! with exceptional optical clarity and a light transmission rating of 96%, this rigid glazing material is the ultimate where absolute optical clarity is important. Fully U.V. stabilised it will provide 15-20 years use inside or outside. 10 times stronger and very much safer than glass. Highly recommended for double glazing South-facing windows or where the sheets are to be left in place all year round.

PLASTIC GLAZING

Manufactured by a different process from cast acrylic, this material offers superb clarity at a budget price. With 92% light transmission it is glass clear and has 10 times the impact strength of glass. For glazing applications you can expect a minimum 12 years outdoor life. Choose from 1.5mm or 3mm.

The range of Fascia profiles comprises:-

• A traditional 9mm Universal Board which requires a backing board.

• An Ogee Fascia Board which offers an attractively designed alternative to the Universal Board.

• An 18mm Mammoth Board which does not require a backing board to support it, because of its rigid linear strength and thickness.

This makes it extremely suitable for total replacement and new build applications when it is fixed directly to the rafter ends.

• Ogee mammoth board which offers the attractive alternative to plain mammoth board. A 16mm mammoth bullnose board that provides the option for direct to wall fascias (i.e. no soffit, garages etc…) or can be used as a gutter board with open eaves details.

A RANGE OF MATCHING PVC-U MOULDINGS CATERS FOR ALL JOINTS AND CORNERS.Soffits can be formed using a number of options:-

• Multi-purpose board up to a width of 404mm combined with soffit vent strip or circular disc ventilators.

• Pre-vented soffit board with air slots to provide ventilation to a 10mm air gap, which conforms to current building regulations.

• Rigid PVC-U hollow soffit in 100mm and 300mm widths provide a cost effective alternative to cellular boards.
