Step # 1, the client software performs a local “inventory” of the hard disk.

Step # 2, the client software transfers the “inventory” for processing

Step # 4, the client software receives the “compare” results and marks all common files as logically retained

Step # 3, the server compares the received list against its current inventory and identifies all common files

Step # 5, the client software transfers each “unique” file only. When transferred successfully each candidate is marked in the client database
