Crossword Puzzle ‐ refers back to specific days of the month for the answers

Depending on how you want to use this product, you may prefer to have the months

organized consecutively followed by all the activities. All sections are conveniently labeled so

the availability of a flash drive allows you to create the format you feel works best for your

situation. A spiral bound workbook of this product is available for those who may not have

access to a computer or someone needing a more portable copy.

Speech‐language pathologists and activity professionals will have a wide variety of activities

for reminiscing, recall and memory, listening and reading as well as writing. All of the activities

can be modified for those with some difficulties by providing more cues as either written or

spoken hints.

NOTE: A spiral workbook version is also available and may be the perfect format for a  home

carryover program or as a resource for conversation starters.

ACTIVITY PROFESSIONALS AND SPEECH/LANGUAGE PATHOLOGISTS

These resources can be adapted for use with a variety of levels of functioning.

Providing the cues needed or reducing the amount of information presented at a

time are helpful possibilities.

If the puzzles seem to be too challenging, make a copy of the page and create

several versions where more letters are filled in.  Once a person has become more

familiar with what is needed, some of those hints can be reduced. In some cases, a

task could be just that a person looks at the answer page and copies the answers.

Doing any of these activities together with a family member, care partner or friend

often creates some meaningful visits. It is also a great intergenerational activity as

well as a resource for those with dementia. Just increasing the amount of cues or

creating the opportunity for reminiscing are valuable tools for enhancing the

quality of time spent with others.
