They have also been a good basis for widening the dialogue and engagement with stakeholders in each successive reporting cycle. We are encouraged that our efforts have been taken seriously and have gained external recognition in the UK and overseas. In the UK, this includes two ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) awards for Sustainability Reporting, the PricewaterhouseCoopers Building Public Trust Award for stakeholder communication and the selection of both British American Tobacco p.l.c. and our company in Malaysia in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices for 2003 and 2004 (the only tobacco companies to be included).British American Tobacco has won the inaugural 'PricewaterhouseCoopers Building Public Trust Award 2003' for Stakeholder Communication after being short-listed with BP and Shell.
