Writing an opinion essay

People have always wanted to earn as much money as possible. It has been widely discussed in recent years whether a great amount of money can make a person successful in life. Some people claim that wealthy and luxurious life may be a good foundation for being a success, while others hold a different point of view.

In my opinion, being rich doesn’t necessarily mean that you are successful. For example, if your main goal in life is making a fortune and all your thoughts are concentrated on this, you may have problems with your family as you don’t have the time for your close people. Moreover, money can spoil people because the rich become greedy, arrogant, treat other people as their inferiors. As a result, they are likely to lose their true friends and to attract jealous people and have a lot of enemies. Last but not least, they can suffer from nervous breakdowns and feel lonely.

On the other hand, many people are convinced that millionaires enjoy all the pleasures of life buying luxury things, travelling around the globe, besides, they possess power and often appear on TV screens, consequently, they are happy and feel their importance in their country.

IV paragraph - Explain why you disagree with the opposing opinion.

I strongly disagree with this view. I suppose that the people who consider money to be the only way of being successful are wrong. I know a lot of people in Russia and in my town, as well, who can call themselves successful although, they never had much money but they got recognition for their contribution in different fields; medicine, education, science, politics.

Despite other people’s opinion, I still believe money has nothing to do with success. From my point of view, it is more important to be respected by the people from your community, have positive thinking and desire to help those people who are in need.

Лексика – 3 балла Запас слов и разнообразие используемой лексики (синонимы, антонимы, фразеологизмы ) и их соответствие высокому уровню (В2 по общеевропейской шкале). Точность в выборе слов и выражений и их соответствие теме и ситуации общении; правильность их употребления в контексте Правильность формирования лексических словосочетаний

Критерии оценивания задания С2 Opinion Essay 4. Грамматика – 3 балла Разнообразие и корректность используемых грамматических средств; Сложность используемых конструкций (пассивный залог, модальные глаголы, причастия, инфинитив, перфектные формы)
