The HR1560 Black Stack can be any kind of thermometer you want it to be, and it works in three dis-tinctive ways. It’s a reference thermometer with a NIST traceable calibration; it’s an automated calibra-tion system reading your reference probe and sensors you’re testing; or it’s a high-accuracy data acquisi-tion system.

The system consists of up to eight different modules designed to do any type of thermometry youchoose. Each module stacks behind the preceding one, and when you add a module, the Stack’s softwareautomatically reconfigures itself to include all of the new functions supplied by that module. There’s nosoftware to load, and nothing has to be calibrated.

Model HR9935 Multi Channel LogWare makes the Black Stack an even more powerful data acquisi-tion tool. LogWare provides graphical and statistical analysis of each channel you’re measuring (up to 96with the Black Stack). And with alarms that can be customized, delayed start times, and selectable log-ging intervals, LogWare turns the Black Stack into the most powerful temperature data acquisition toolon the market.The Base Unit

The base module supplies power, communication management, and software coordination for all of theother modules. It has the display, control buttons, and RS-232 port built-in. Each base module can handleeight thermometer modules stacked behind it with a maximum of 96 sensor inputs. The thermometercharacteristics of each base module are defined by the thermometry modules stacked behind it.The Modules

There are nine thermometry modules: an SPRT module, a high-temp PRT module, a PRT scannermodule, a standards thermistor module, two 1000-ohm PRT modules, a thermistor scanner module, aprecision thermocouple module, and a thermocouple scanner module. Each module has its own processorand connects to the stack on a proprietary digital bus. Each retains its own calibration data and performsall analog measurement functions within the module.

The HR1521 uses a menu system for convenientaccess to all functions. Calibration and sensor pro-gramming functions are password protected tohelp prevent unauthorized access.

“Min” and “Max” functions store the lowest andhighest readings since the last reset. The “Hold”function freezes and stores the current reading(up to six may be stored) for later recall. And the“Delta” function computes the difference betweenthe current reading and a reference value, whichmay be recorded at any time.Model HR1522

The Model HR1522 has all the power and greatfeatures of the HR1521 plus the ability to logdata. Two data acquisition modes are on-board.

In “Auto Logging” mode, the HR1522 recordsup to 10,000 measurements, including the value,unit of measure, date, and time of each measure-ment. Measurements are recorded at any of 12 se-lectable intervals ranging from every second toevery hour.Probes

The HR1521 and HR1522 read both Pt-25 andPt-100 RTDs as well as thermistors.

PRTs, with their wide temperature ranges andstabilities, have long been favored as temperaturestandards. From -200°C to 100°C, the HR1521reads PRTs accurately to ±0.025°C. Even at800°C, these high-precision readouts are accurateto ±0.1°C.

Precision thermistors offer excellent stabilityand even greater accuracies over a more narrowrange—typically from about -10°C to 110°C. Attemperatures below 50°C, these HandheldThermometers read thermistors to ±0.005°C.Accuracy at 100°C is ±0.02°C.INFO-CON Connectors

Probes attach to the HR1521 and HR1522 usinga unique connector. The connector allows you tochange the probes you use without reprogram-ming your readout. A memory chip in the connec-tor stores all the critical information about yourprobe, including its serial number, recall date, andcalibration constants.

If you work with high-temperature thermocou-ples and you'd rather test them than throw themout, but you haven't found a calibration instru-ment that checks them economically, now youhave a solution.

This Calibrator delivers all the benefits tomake verifying your thermocouples productiveand effective.

The unit’s temperature display and built-intype S thermocouple are system calibrated in ourlab for display accuracy. of ±5°C (7.2°F) over theentire range 1200°C (2192°F). Each unit includesa NIST traceable certificate with data at sevenpoints between 150°C and 1200°C.

For comparison work, stability is better than±0.5°C (0.9°F) at 1200°C and even better at lowertemperatures. Hole-to-hole gradients are also lessthan ±0.5°C at maximum temperature. Therefore,with a good reference thermometer and carefulcomparison techniques, your calibration uncer-tainties can be less than 1°C.

A wide variety of inserts is available to maxi-mize productivity and enable comparison work.Thermocouples from 1/16" to 1/2" (1.6 to 12.7 mm)in diameter can be used, depending on which ofour standard inserts you choose. Each insert ac-cepts as many as six probes. Custom inserts arealso available.

Each furnace comes with an RS-232 interface -it software which lets you control the unit from aWindows® environment. For maximum productivi-ty, the unit can be combined with a Hart referencethermometer and our Calibration Software to fullyautomate thermocouple testing. The softwarereads all types of temperature sensors, controlsheat sources and creates calibration reports thatcomply with ANSI/NCSL Z540-1.

Portable Pressure Calibrator This self-contained, battery powered package contains a pressure generator, fine pressure control, device energiz-

ing and output measurement capabilities, as well as facilities for 4-20 mA loop testing and data storage. The ruggeddesign sealed generally to NEMA 12 (IP54) is ergonomically designed such that the pressure pump can be operatedand test leads connected without compromising the visibility of the large dual parameter display. Designed for use in remote locations where AC power is not available, this unit enables pressureinstrumentation to be serviced and calibrated.

The instrument features the capability to generate pneumatic test pressures with an integralhand-pump up to 300 psi. A volume adjuster provides fine control of the desired test value and aventing valve enables pressure release without disconnection of the device under test.

An optional pressure/vacuum switching facility can also be provided, which enables thehand-pump to source vacuum down to -22" Hg or pressure up to 300 psi g.

To facilitate pressure transmitter testing and calibration a 24 VDC power supply is pro-vided and the ability to monitor the current loop from 0 to ±55 mA DC.

For loop verification, the unit can also output a single 12mA test value, or provide apassive sink if required.

The clear LCD allows readout of pressure, voltage and current parameters with theability to show current or voltage simultaneously with pressure.

Pressure CalibratorRobust, Portable and Accurate Pressure Calibration up to 10,000 PSI

High accuracy and stability are achieved by use of aspecial thin film strain gauge transducer with built-intemperature compensation. Unlike some otherpressure calibrators, accuracy is maintained whendecreasing pressure which makes the unit ideal forverification of hysteresis. All units are calibrated inpositive as well as in negative direction.

need to even attempt to calculate or compensate for the error contribution due to contact resistance or“O” resistance because there is no “O” resistance. The unique shunt decade design reduces these errorsto a level of insignificance. When the RTD100X replaces the RTD in the system, any temperature-equiv-alent resistance can be selected on the error-free in-line making it possible to check or calibrate all of theother elements in the system.
