BIBLE VERSE OF THE DAY Օրվա Աստուածաշնչական Ընթերցվածք

1 Timothy 5:1-2 5 Do not speak harshly to an older man, but speak to him as to a father, to younger men as brothers, 2 to older women as mothers, to younger

women as sisters—with absolute purity.

TODAY’S GOSPEL READING Այսօրվա Ավետարանը

John 3:13-21 13 No one has ascended into heaven except the one who descended

from heaven, the Son of Man. 14 And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that

whoever believes in him may have eternal life. 16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that

everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. 17 “Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18

Those who believe in him are not condemned; but those who do not believe are condemned already, because they have not believed in the

name of the only Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than light

because their deeds were evil. 20 For all who do evil hate the light and do not come to the light, so that their deeds may not be exposed. 21 But

those who do what is true come to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their deeds have been done in God.”

Prayer List

One of our most fundamental Christian responsibilities is to pray. There is truly great power in prayer. During this Divine Liturgy

and throughout this next week your prayers are requested: For the spiritual growth of The Armenian Apostolic Church at Hye Pointe; For more young men to hear the Lord’s call to

service into the Holy Priesthood of the Armenian Church; For other young men and women also to hear God’s call to

serve His Church. For Unity of the Armenian Church and of all Churches. For the sick, homeless, hungry, the poor and

disabled; those in mourning, lonely or depressed; those experiencing emotional, physical or spiritual difficulties; For

those experiencing family, employment or financial difficulties; For the increase of love and understanding

among us all; For us all to gain a personal relationship with our Lord, Jesus Christ;

And especially for good health for: All our parishioners who are ill or in recovery

Prayer of the Week Now, here in this book, what prayers, what fragrant incense shall I offer pleasing and acceptable to you, blessed heavenly king Christ? If not a prayer that you bless those I have cursed, release those I have bound, free the condemned, comfort the outcast, reconcile the antagonized, console the mournful, heal the afflicted, care for the shunned, protect the betrayed, minister to the souls of those whose bodies are wounded. Thus, when I greet people with blessings, hear me, and when with curses, pay no attention, compassionate Lord.

Weekly Wisdom

You can't enjoy today if you're worrying about

the past or the future. Your mind and your thoughts could be stuck in the past,

continually thinking about what has already happened. If that's the case, it's best to get over it. The past has already happened; you can't do anything to change it. Rather, you ought to trust

God that he is working out those things for ultimate good (see Romans 8:28).

On the other hand, your mind could be stuck in the future, thinking about what might happen, what you fear will happen,

and things you wish wouldn't happen. However, being a person of faith requires trust--trusting God about the future. Romans 15:13 says, May the God of hope fill you with all joy

and peace as you trust in him. You'll have joy and peace when you trust in God. Why? Because you'll be able to rest and relax

knowing that God has good plans in store for you (Jeremiah 29:11).

Don't worry about the past or the future. Instead, have faith; trust God. When you trust God to help you learn from the past

and provide for your future, you're free to enjoy your life today.

Remembering Hrant Dink

Ten years ago—on January 19, 2007—the Armenian journalist Hrant Dink was assassinated on the street outside his newspaper offices in Istanbul. Dink’s writings on the Armenian Genocide had made him a well-known figure in Turkey—but had also prompted his prosecution under Turkey’s retrograde law forbidding anti-Turkish statements. The murder of this brave, gentle man was later revealed to contain elements of state persecution along with what we in this country would call “hate crime.” It became a cause célèbre for Armenians the world over, but also for elements of Turkish society longing for a more open public discourse. At Hrant Dink’s funeral, more than 100,000 people, Armenians side-by-side with ethnic Turks, jammed the streets of Istanbul carrying placards reading, “We are all Hrant Dink.” Even after ten years, the demoralizing horror of that terrible January day still lingers; and the astonishing spectacle of the subsequent weeks is likewise unforgettable. Today we again offer prayers for the repose of Hrant Dink’s spirit, for the consolation of his loved ones, and for the light of Divine truth, which even the deepest darkness cannot extinguish. In the wake of Dink’s murder, Diocesan Communications director Chris Zakian published a short essay that, alas, is still timely in its reflections on the crime and its aftermath
