BETMAR COFFEE NEWS
JULY 28, 2020
SUBMITTED BY JUDI GEARSBECK AND PHOTOS BY BRENDA MOODY
GOOD MORNING BETMAR!!
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
“Don’t confuse your bad days as a sign of weakness. Those are the days that you
are actually ghting your hardest.”
CLUBS
So far, most of the club members have done a very good job of following the
protocols that their clubs have set up for them. There have been a few minor
incidences that were easily taken care of. Great job everyone, enjoy the rest of
your summer!!
Please remember that these clubs have opened up for BETMAR RESIDENTS
ONLY!! No visitors are allowed at this time.
HURRICANE COMMITTEE NEWS
Wow, this hurricane season has been good to us so far. It sure has given us all
plenty of time to get ready.
1. Have you made plans in case Betmar has to evacuate? Remember, you don’t
have to go hundreds of miles. Talk with friends and family about staying with
them if needed. Think about a hotel/motel. Check the locations of local shelters
in our area.
2. Get your GO BAG ready. Assemble your Survival Supplies early.
3. SPECIAL NEEDS SHELTERS…. Have you sent in your application? Remember
your GO BAG, and remember your Companion/Caregiver goes with you.
4. Listen to the experts and stay safe.
5. After any storm, notify the Betmar Oce of any damages.

WHAT-NOT-BARN
Hey all you muscle men out there in Betmar…. the What-Not-Barn is looking for a
good strong man to help with the pick-ups and deliveries while Dennis is away
for 6 weeks. The 4 Fridays in August and the rst 2 Fridays in September. If you
can help out please give Linda Bentz a call and let her know. Her number is
…..231-268-6681.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR WEST Z-HILLS
ELEMENTARY
This is the time of year that we begin collecting school supplies for our local
Elementary School. Each year we buy, back packs, paper, crayons, pencils,
Kleenex tissue and other supplies and we drop it in the drop boxes at Coee
Hour. Well….. not this year!! But wait…. we aren’t going to let that stop us!! We will
be collecting on Friday mornings from 9am – Noon at the What-Not Barn. We will
have the drop boxes out there for the next 4 weeks and we will drop them o at
the school each week.
I would like to send a BIG SHOUT-OUT to Linda Bentz for allowing us to do this
there so that we can still help the school out. Remember that it is probably a lot
harder for these teachers and kids to get supplies this year as many parents have
been o work…let’s show them just how generous and caring Betmar really is!!
You can nd the supply lists at most of the stores. Any questions just give me a
call…. Judi Gearsbeck…. 813-780-9811.
SICK BAY
Up-date on June Wentworth…. June will be moving to an extended care facility in
Land O’Lakes, Fl. She will be able to get mail there so cards would really be
appreciated. But she won’t be having any phone calls for some time yet as she is
still very weak. Please keep her in our prayers.

there before you send anything…
BIRTHDAYS

anyone left out so Happy Belated Birthday to:
Bill Hunt…….. July 26th
Marsha Stern…… July 25th
Kathy Downer……. August 3rd…… 65 years!!!!
Happy Birthday to all of you!!
GIGGLES OF THE DAY!
Stepped on my scale this morning and it said: Please use social distancing, one
person at a time!!
Yesterday my husband thought he saw a Cockroach in the kitchen. He sprayed
everything down and cleaned thoroughly. Today I am putting the Cockroach in
the bathroom!
People keep asking “Is COVID-19 really that serious?” Listen up…. Casinos and
Churches are closed…..When Heaven and Hell agree on the same thing, it’s
probably pretty serious!
This too shall pass… it might pass like a kidney stone, but it’s going to pass!!
Does anyone know which page of the Bible explains how to turn water into
wine? Just asking for a friend….
HAVE A GREAT WEEK EVERYONE, STAY SAFE AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!

Judi,
Just to clarify!
The Betmar Oce also had applications for the Special Needs Shelter if residents need them.
If we go to a special needs shelter we need to bring our Companion or Caretaker with us
along with our Go Bags etc.
According to Board Approved Policy the Club Houses will only open AFTER a storm if there
are damaged homes or utility outages. Which one will open will be determined by the
Hurricane Committee and Properties depending on needs.
Club Hotses will not be available during a hurricane.
If we go to a Soecual
