Miranda’s Blog
I love the leisure centre in my town. My whole family goes there and we all have a lot of
fun. There are indoor and outdoor sports facilities, an ice rink, and a swimming pool.
There’s even tenpin bowling! My little sister can’t ice-skate very well, so my mum hires a
penguin skating aid for her. She’s six years old and she looks so sweet holding on to the
little penguin. My mum likes swimming and so do I. At the moment, we are training for a
Swimathon to raise money for charity. We hope to get over £200.
My dad doesn’t like swimming, but he loves tenpin bowling. Sometimes, I have a game
with him. My favourite activity is Tai Chi, and I go to classes on Thursday evenings. I
hope you’ve got a great leisure centre where you are!

Hi Jacob,
I hope you’re having a
nice summer. I went
to the Bonnaroo
Music and Arts
Festival last weekend. I
went with my brother,
Luke, and my cousin Tyler.
The festival was on a beautiful farm and there were
a lot of people there. Each day, there were fantastic
entertainers and great competitions. There was also
a circus, a cinema and a theatre. There were places
to buy souvenirs and some really funny T-shirts.
The best part was the concerts. They were really
exciting. My favourite band, Metallica, was amazing!
The weather wasn’t very good though. It was cloudy
all weekend. But the food was great! We had lots
and lots of delicious burgers. What about you?
Take care,
Craig

Students play in groups of three. Each group gets a set of story start cards. Student A picks up
a story start card and reads it to the group. Then, student A continues the story by adding on a
sentence that contains one verb in the past simple and at least one noun or adjective. After
student A completes their turn, students B and C continue in the same manner. The group has
three minutes to form a complete story. The sentences don't have to make sense (they can be
silly or funny), but they must be grammatically correct. Each correct sentence gets one point. If
a student makes a mistake or cannot continue, one point is deducted and the student loses a
turn. The game ends when the group can no longer continue the story or when the three minutes
are up. The group with the most points wins the game.
Story start cards:
Student A turns over thefollowing story card:
Lastweek, I went to
a festival
...
Lastweek,I went to
a festival
...
Lastsummer, myfamily and Ihad afantasticholiday ...
My best friendbroke his leg ...
I went to afancy dressparty on Sunday...
Student A’s addition to the story: I saw many people in beautiful, colourful costumes there.Student B’s sentence: I watched an incredible fireworks display.Student C’s sentence: Then, I listened to a great band and danced to the music.
The students continue the story in the same way, and the game continues until there is a winner.
