CONSERVATION AND LAND STEWARDSHIP HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A PRIORITY OF THE McLEOD FAMILY.

A vimor has a rich 100 year history of land stewardship. In 1916, Colin McLeod Sr., purchased the property that comprises

Avimor. At that time, it was located in a small ranching community known as “Howell.” Colin began to raise his family and operate a ranch named the Spring Valley Ranch. As he purchased surrounding parcels, the foothills ranch grew to 37,000 acres.

The Ranch is still in the hands of the McLeod Family, and conservation and land stewardship have always been their priority. It is this heritage of land stewardship that is the basis for the Avimor

Master Plan. In early 2000, Sandy McLeod and his family sought to develop a “place” where the land was preserved for future generations. They sought a “small-town feel” where folks could live side-by-side with nature.

Avimor is a plan that is being built to withstand the test of time. The Avimor Team is dedicated to only this project, and they recognize that what they build today will be the standard by which they are

judged for many years to come. “There’s no running away. We’ll be here, standing behind our product for a very long time,” according to General Manager, Dan Richter.

Avimor has set the standard for “inclusive” conservation based communities. Like the foothills it’s built on, Avimor is living and growing. The foothills lifestyle is affordable and open to all.

Avimor has its own Art of Living Director(s), Chris and Rose Kreslins. Yes, they’re a team, and married too! They help make Avimor a truly special community because they are concerned with one goal:

“Community Building”. The primary responsibility of an Art of Living Director is to plan and coordinate community events that draw residents together so that they get to know each other. Happy healthy communities thrive when neighbors get involved.

In the past year, Chris and Rose have coordinated a wide variety of community events. There are geocaching excursions into the foothills, numerous Thursday Night “Meet & Greet” parties, Family Movie Nights, “Ride to Wine” biking excursion, and a couple of moonlight hikes. The Holiday parties are especially well attended, including the Egg-Stravagaza Easter Egg Hunt, Christmas Party, and Halloween Bon Fire.

Avimor residents particularly enjoy the weekly ride/jog/walking excursions into the Foothills coordinated by Chris and Rose. Each Wednesday evening during good weather, residents meet at Town Lake Park and split into hiking, biking, and jogging groups, depending on what they want to do. Chris and Rose stress that each exercise group moves at a pace that is comfortable for the group. The different biking, jogging, hiking groups move at a pace that is comfortable for each group. “These events are to build friendships, not to compete,” according to Avimor’s Art of Living Director, Chris Kreslins.

Chris and Rose Kreslins are perfectly suited for this important task of “Community Building” because Chris is no stranger to organizing fun community events. His career choice has given him the opportunity to coordinate countless events for young folks and college students. It was a natural extension for the Kreslins to coordinate fun events for Avimor when they moved here in 2012 with their 7 children. The entire Kreslins family enjoys running, hiking, and mountain biking in the foothills. According to Rose, they can’t imagine a better place to live…a place where they can walk straight from their doorstep directly into the trails.

But it was their love for the community and their neighbors that made them jump at the opportunity to be the Art of Living Directors. They love bringing people together and strengthening the bonds that tie. The Community “blossoms” as a whole, according to Rose, when people get out and do things together. Chris wants to help everyone reach for the stars and better themselves. And that’s simple to do, Chris said, in light of the fact that the Avimor group is easy going and very welcoming.
