Wyrażeń lf only ... , I wish ... , l'd rather ... używamy, by wyrazić życzenie lub żął , Ze coś nie stało/ nie dzieje się tak, jakbyśmy sobie tego życzyli: /f onlv I didn't find him so attractive. = I find him attractive and l'm not happy about it. • I wish + would + czasownik używamy, aby wyrazić niezadowolenie, irytację lub złość
z powodu określonej sytuacji. (Uwaga: tej konstrukcji możemy używać tylko wówczas jeżeli podmiot obu zdań jest inny!}, np.: I wish they would stop nagging me about my clothes = They often nag me about my clothes and I would like them to stop.
• I wish + Past Simple używamy, aby wyrazić żal lub krytykę odnośnie obecnej sytuacji, np.:/ wish I spoke French. = I don't speak French, but /'d like to speak it.
• I wish + Past Perfect używamy, aby wyrazić żal lub krytykę odnośnie czynności lub zdarzeń z przeszłości, np.:_/ wish I had to/d my sister when this all started. = I didn't tell her and I regret it now.
Wyrażenia Ws high time ... używamy, aby wyrazić, że ktoś powinien wykonać niezwłocznie jakąś czynność: tt'c hioh-time=JI.DlLapp/j~_q for that grant = You shou/d apply asap.
