Dr. Hayes Wicker, Senior Pastor  Churchwide Indeed Devotional January - February Pick up your copy in the Lighthouse Bookstore for only $3.00. Use it for your own quiet time, or as a family devotional. The Christmas season is especially signicant for me, not only because of the Savior’s birth, but also I was “born again” at that time and married Janet on December 27, 1975. The First Baptist Church of Kingsland, Georgia was beautifully decorated for Christmas by my bride. Dr. Bill Hightower performed the wedding and challenged us to a lifetime of loyal love based on the Lord. We are celebrating with our family t his signicant 40th anniversary by attending that sweet church where Janet grew up and by having a time of family worship as we renew our vows to the Lord and each other. I thank God that when I proposed with Psalm 34:3, that Janet accepted. She has truly “magnied the Lord with me” as we have “exalted His name together.” Through pastorates in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and now Florida, she has been a marvelous encourager , companion, and blessed servant of the Lord. We are so grateful for the “inheritance of the Lord” through our three children who all love Jesus, as well as our ve grandchildren who are a great delight. While we are in Georgia, Pastor Troy Maragos, who ministers to our College and 20s young adults, will be preaching in each of the services. He is an excellent communicator and Bible teacher with an engaging personality . I will be back in the pulpit to continue my “Dragons ” study on January 2/3, just in time to begin the new 11:00Seasonal Worship Service in the Worship Center auditorium. The Chapel service will continue, but because of the installation of new technology in the Chapel, video capability will not be available. Consequently , our staff will speak in my place. That will probably last for about a month depending on the speed of the company. The live band, with Pastor Eric leading, will continue to be a blessing. In January, the pastoral team and I begin a new Bible study inBand of Brothers from the book of Nehemiah. We discover how to make a difference in these dark times. The ladies in RefresHer  will be doing The Armor of God by Priscilla Shirer. This study is more than merely a biblical description of the believer’s inventory, it is an action plan for putting it on and developing a personalized strategy to secure victory.  As we begin the new year, I am v ery excited a bout the wonder ful blessings th at God has in store for us. I trust that we all will renew our commitment to “magnify the Lord and exalt His name together.” May you have a blessed Christmas season and a Christ-honoring New Year . After all, “God is with us.” That word “with” means together and sharing with in close fellowship. He is not removed or remote but mightily involved in our lives and ministries. *There is a guest reception in the Commons following the Saturday night and Sunday morning 11:00am worship service s.
