Teen Dramas generally follow the conventions of stereotypical American teenculture.

The conventions include; sex, drugs, violence, parties, alcohol, cliques andrelationships.

In our two minute opening we decide to introduce the main clique as thiswould help our audience identify the genre of our film. Our chosen Locationalso helps as teen dramas stereotypically use schools as a main location.

Many teen drama include Law Vs crime. In our teen drama the illegalcircumstances are not highlighted in the first two minute. However the reason

in which the characters faints is drug related, but the audience are unaware ofthis so early into the film. We felt doing this would lead the audience intomaking their own assumptions.

Searching Fate Represents a socialgroup of Teenage Gangsters, however inour film they are girls.

The Gangster image was portrayed bythe use of language and the selectedclothing.

The chosen dialect helped to show the

unity between the group and gave themshared identity. We aimed to usedlanguage that our target audience couldrelate to and understand.

camera angles used when following herreveal the type of character she plays.

We chose to use the song Tinnie Tempah Tears as the lyrics combine with thegenre and successfully represent thesocial group.

There are many media institutions which tend to distribute a variety of films. Some institutions stick to one genre, however some are very open and will

    distribute many genres.

After researching what media institution has released the majority of teen

dramas, I found that Revolver Entertainment was the most ideal for our film. AsRevolver Entertainment released Kidulthood i believe that it would also have noobligation to distribute Searching Fate as well.

In addition to that I found that Revolver Entertainment targets the same audienceto what Searching Fate was produced for.

As our film will later included scenes of drugs and violence the BBFC would giveour film a 15 certificate, as some scenes would be inappropriate for anyone underthis age.

The film is not for a set nationality, however being from asimilar social background would help create tenor .

The Target age is reasonably high as certain extracts would notbe suitable for anyone under 15.

The characters are stereotypical archetypesof their social groups , therefore people insimilar social cliques can relate to eachcharacter individually.

As the characters are teen themselves theaudience can understand the storylines in moredepth as they are of the same age.

The title of our film expresses the life of everyteen, searching to find who they are and where

they belong. This is something that isworldwide and has a big effect on you as aperson in later life. We felt that this titlereflects that deep down through all the trouble, violence and pain there a young adultsearching for guidance.

As media studies was a new topic for me,getting used to the technology was one of mystrongest aspects. I Became very confidentwhen filming as its something I had done manytimes before.

I had also learnt new skills when using theMacs. From editing shot, to adding music, adjusting the sound and also learning how to

fade music in and out to match the narrative.

Also the use of editing techniques such asfades, dissolves and many other transitions tohelp our film flow.

After looking back at our Preliminary Task, Ifeel That my film making skills haveimproved a great deal. After learning the180 degree rule, we then incorporated it

into out film via shot reverse shot, whentwo of our characters where inconversation. As we began to learn thesemiotics behind different cameramovements and angles, we began tounderstand what each of them contributedto a scene. Overall after studying what wehave learnt throughout the course, I feel Ihave a much wider understanding of theeffect the mise-en scene, Lighting andediting techniques had on our two minute

    opening scene.
