The Teen drama genre typically abide by the conventions following American popculture.

The conventions usually include: Alcohol, illegal substances, violence, high school, parties, intimate relationships, social groups and cliques.

In the first two minutes of our movie we chose to show what we thought were the

most familiar conventions such as relationships, social groups and cliques, as theaudience would automatically link them to the relevant conventions for this genre.

The Teen drama genre also make use of binary oppositions, such as Good Vs Eviland Law Vs Crime.

Similarly, our movie uses the opposition Good Vs Evil, but does not touch upon theaspect of Law Vs Crime.

This is because the attitudes with the love triangle were central to the storyline, however if law was brought into the plot, it would act as a distraction.

When looking at the film in general, each character seems naive, asthey bombarded with ideas of love, and it is obvious that each

characters relationship problems dominate their lives.

Within this gang influenced social group, the male characters appeardominant, taking control of the area they are in, or the people they arearound. For example Aaron and his girlfriend, Laura, This is illustratedby the mockery texts that he sends to her.

In addition, the young gang in our movie is based upon groups ofyoungsters, that some may call hood rats or yobs. This is shownthrough the verisimilitude clothing, as the characters wore baggyclothes with their hoods up, so their faces are covered.

The fact that their faces are covered link to the idea of not beingidentified by police or even rival gangs, if showing rude obnoxiousbehaviour, similar to the behaviour of Aaron and his gang.

Many media institutions cater for a variety of genres for example,Momentum pictures, Path, Revolver entertainment, Hollywoodpictures, and 20th century fox.

However, I found that Revolver Entertainment released a majority ofaction/drama and adventure films, including Noel Clarkes Kidulthood,

hence my belief that this institute would distribute Street Crush.

Also, I found that other films (not necessarily films of the same genre)issued by Revolver Entertainment had the same constituency andtarget audience.

Furthermore, Revolver entertainment is renowned for handling bothlarge scale, and smaller scale films with equal attentions, therefore Itrust that though our film was produced under low resources, theywould nonetheless sponsor the film.

Since the characters are archetypes of their social group, thiswould attract the attention of people who understand and can

relate to the social class, and social areas in general.

Furthermore, the characters are young teens, therefore itaddresses the audience since the majority would share the sameage.

The title of the film also had to be attracting, as it would give theaudience a first impression, hence the play on words in the titleStreet Crush. The word crush possesses two connotationsfirstly, crush meaning smashed into pieces, and the secondmeaning being admiration.

Ps & Qs by Kano was used as the theme tune to the film, this is a

great attraction for the audience as it is an up to date song, whichmany young adults enjoy listening to. Although not everyone willlike the song, I think that it is still effective as the beat is catchy. However, not only is it an attraction it also mirrors the gang wars, and relationships within our story line.
