將臨期

「將臨期」(Advent) 從拉丁文而來，原意是即將來臨，是教會的新年，

它承接著聖靈降臨期的最後主日－基督君王日，開始新一個年度。

「將臨期」由聖誕節之前的第四個主日開始計 (今年在 12 月 3 日)，為期

四週。「將臨期」的設立，主要有兩個提醒:

(一) 提醒信徒基督道成肉身向人類施行救贖，我們要預備自己，為救主

的來臨感恩。

(二）提醒信徒要為基督將要第二次再來而作好準備。

「將臨期」傳統採用的顏色是紫色或藍色，紫色表示「反省悔改」的意

思，提醒我們本是罪人，不配迎見上帝，需要悔改，仰望主的拯救；紫色

也是「君王」的顏色，提醒我們主耶穌應許還要再來，以君王的身份來統

管萬有。而「將臨期」通常會有簡單的佈置，是擺設一個插有蠟燭的花

環。花環通常以綠色的常青樹枝編織成，綠色的常青樹枝是代表「生

命」， 圍成環狀是代表「永遠的記號」，所以，綠色花環代表「永恆的

生命」，用以紀念耶穌使我們得永生。花環上有四支較細的蠟燭和一支較

粗的白色蠟燭，從將臨節第一主日開始，依序每週加燃一支紫色蠟燭，代

表期待、渴望，燃點紫色燭光表示信徒應當存期待的心等候主的來臨。而

到了第四週，四枝燭光點齊之後，也是主來的時候要到了。就在聖誕節那

天，再燃亮一枝白色燭光︰象徵至聖的主必要臨到，驅除幽暗，帶來拯

救。白蠟燭象徵純潔、喜樂、和真理之光。耶穌是世界的光，因為「祂是

真光，照亮一切生在世上的人」(約翰福音 1:9)。
