Lovely Animals in Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden

I went to Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden on 29th January, 2010. The weather was cloudy. I went there with my teachers and classmates. The farm is in Tai Po. We went there by school bus.

We walked around and saw many animals on the farm. There were many interesting animals on the farm. I saw the wild boars sleeping in the cave. The owls stood quietly on the branches. The Hong Kong newts jumped on the wetland. We learnt a lot about the animals of the farm from the staff. I took many photos with them. We were very happy.

When I came home, I felt very tired but I had learned a lot of things about animals and farming. I want to go there again with my family. I think my little brother would feel very excited!

Miss Kwan Wan Man: The content of the writing is rich and well presented. It shows how she spent a lovely day in the Kadoorie and Botanic Garden. Well done Katie! A Great Day in Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden

Last Friday, I went to Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden with my classmates and teachers. The farm is located in Tai Po. The weather was perfect.

There were a lot of animals on the farm such as monkeys, birds, pigs, owls and bats. The most interesting animals I saw on the farm was the owl family. They stood on the branches lonely and quietly. Their bodies were fat and big. They had two big and bright eyes. I thought they were cute and clever.

Also, we walked around the farm and garden. We saw so many vegetables and beautiful flowers.

At last, I felt very happy and excited but tired. We came back to school at half past five by school bus. I learned a lot of things about animals and farming during the trip. I want to go there again with my family. Miss Kwan Wan Man: It is a good piece of writing. The ideas are well presented. Chinese White Dolphins in Hong Kong

Chinese White Dolphins are very famous in Hong Kong. They are very beautiful and cute. I like Chinese White Dolphins very much.

Chinese White Dolphins can live for forty years. They live in the oceans. They are two hundred and fifty kilograms. Chinese White Dolphins are grey, pink or white. They like to jump in the water. They can jump very high. They eat fish but they do not like to eat octopuses.

There are some Chinese White Dolphins in Hong Kong. The other name of a Chinese White Dolphin is Indo-pacific Humpback Dolphin. They are white, black, pink and grey. They can jump high. They cannot smell. They live in Hong Kong like Repulse Bay. They usually can live for twenty-five years or longer. They always need to breathe every thirty seconds and the young Chinese White Dolphin needs to breathe every fifteen seconds. The Chinese White Dolphin is the mascot of Hong Kong. However, some of the fishermen in Hong Kong think that Chinese White Dolphins are not lucky. Miss Lam Shuk Wan: I like this piece of writing. It is a good introduction about Chinese White Dolphins. An Interesting Festival in Hong Kong

I think the most interesting festival is Lunar New Year in Hong Kong. It is on the first day of the first month in the lunar calendar and it is one of the most important traditional Chinese festivals.

In the old days, people lit firecrackers. They dance to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Now, both the Chinese people and foreigners celebrate the Lunar New Year in Hong Kong. Before Lunar New Year we clean our houses and go to the flower market. At Lunar New Year the married couples give lucky money to the children. We also watch fireworks and have dinner together. We eat many candies, chocolate, rice cakes and dumplings during Lunar New Year. We also buy new clothes and wear traditional Chinese clothing.

I love Lunar New Year because I can play with my relatives and eat many candies. I can get a lot of lucky money too. Miss Chow Ling Yuk: A good description of the festival with rich content. Fluent writing! Good job Benson. Mr Eldred: A good structured and well planned piece of work Benson. Well done.

The Hong Kong Science Museum is one of the museums that has the highest average of visitors every year. There are some animal fossils too. There are different types of science knowledge for us to learn.

There are exhibitions, a drawing room of science, exhibits of science and a theatre of science. This is good for teenagers to enrich ones knowledge. The Hong Kong Science Museum is nearby the Hong Kong Museum of History, so we can also go there conveniently.

    Four Seasons in Hong Kong

Hong Kong has four seasons in a year. They are spring, summer, autumn and winter. The weather in spring is wet and humid; summer is hot; autumn is cool and winter is cold.

Nowadays, the weather in Hong Kong has changed a little. The winter comes late and is not so cold. The earth has became warmer. Some people say that Hong Kong will not have winters in the future. I think we should help the earth and keep the four seasons as usual in Hong Kong.

We should start to protect the environment in Hong Kong. The government has taken the first step by advising drivers to turn off their engines when their cars are parked. We should obey and follow the rules. Miss Chow Ling Yuk: As Hong Kong citizens, we have the obligations to obey the rules and protect our environment. Kay is a good citizen who shows his love of Hong Kong with social conscience. Mr Eldred: Good job, Kit. Keep up the good work.

Santa Claus is coming to Hong Kong.

Santa Claus is coming to Hong Kong. I was excited to hear the news. I waited for him on Christmas Eve. I hoped he would give me a computer for my Christmas gift. I was tired but I was happy. I could not fall asleep, though I was sleepy. Suddenly, I heard something outside my home. A man in red clothes got off a coach. He was Santa Claus! I was surprised. He had black hair and black eyes. He was a Chinese Santa Clause. He came to my home and gave me a computer as Id wished. He was my father. I was so amazed. I could not believe it, neither could I say Thank you so much, my Santa Claus! Heres the one in my Hometown-Hong Kong! Miss Chow Ling Yuk: Ka Yeung compares Hong Kong to his home and expresses his love of Hong Kong as his home. His home is where he can stay with his father and his family. Mr Eldred: Its good to see you value the place where you live. Good job.

    Four Seasons in Hong Kong

Hong Kong has four seasons. They are spring, summer, autumn and winter. Spring is warm and wet. Summer is hot and the sun shines. Autumn is windy and cool. Winter is cold and dry. Perhaps, we will not have four seasons as usual some years later in Hong Kong because the winter is not cold any more. This year, winter could be as hot as the summer.

Why dont we have winter? We dont have winter because the earth temperature is rising now. We always turn on the air conditioner when its warm. If we keep on turning on the air-conditioners, the world will be full of hot air. It will lead to the green house effect. In order to protect the environment of the earth and keep the four seasons as usual in Hong Kong, we shouldnt always turn on the air-conditioner. You should open the windows to make the house cool. Miss Chow Ling Yuk: Charlie is conscious about the protection of the environment and urges us for helping to keep the rules of nature. Her writing is direct and precise. Mr Eldred: A detailed and well structured piece of work. I hope everyone was as concerned about the environment as Charlie.

    Hong Kong-A Food Paradise

Hong Kong-A Food Paradise, you can find different kinds of food in Hong Kong, like Sushi, Hang Zhou cuisine. However I think the best expression of the style of food in Hong Kong is fish ball.

Fish ball is not only cheap, but also easy to buy or sell. You can choose from different tastes, like curry or original. Although fish ball is delicious, we should make sure that they are clean to eat.

The second best food in Hong Kong is noodles. You are free to choose the ingredients. You can make your own bowl of noodles!

I love Hong Kong because there are many kinds of food to eat. Hong Kong is a great place. Im loving it! Miss Yam Yin Yee: Ka Po is fond of eating and she did find different kinds of food that can be found in Hong Kong. I would like to try them all! Mr Eldred: I totally agree that Hong Kong is a food lovers paradise. Good piece of work. Well done.

Santa Claus is coming to Hong Kong

Once upon a time, a man sent presents to children at Christmas. He lived in Norway. When young people met him, they would become excited and very happy. Who is he? He is Santa Claus.

One day, he flew to Hong Kong because he wanted to see this beautiful city. When he walked in the street, he saw Hong Kong people wasting paper, trees, water Then, he thought of a lot of plans to keep Hong Kong clean.

Finally, he designed an on-line game called Green Santa. When the children played the game, it could teach them how to reuse things effectively, use less tissue paper, and recycle plastic bottles. Next, he sent presents to those who did not wrap with paper. Finally, he told the children that they should donate their old clothes to poor families so, they could reduce rubbish.

The plan worked well and Hong Kong became clean again. Everyone was happy. Miss Yam Yin Yee: It is a piece of creative writing which showed the imaginative ability of Tsz Ching. Through this piece of writing, she brought out the message of protecting our earth as well. I love the idea! Mr Eldred: Good meaningful story. We hope some parts of your story comes true so that we can live in a clean and healthy environment.

East Asian Games in Hong Kong

It is the first time for Hong Kong to hold the East Asian Games. Through the promotion from the government and the mass media, all of us have the opportunity to join the activities and share the happiness.

On one hand, we can enjoy the competition of sporting events as an audience and watch the excellent performances of the athletes such as Guo Jingjing and Liu Xiang. On the other hand, some of the Hong Kong people join the sport events as a volunteer.

At last, I am proud of the athletes because all of them put a great effort in to the event. Their courage and confidence inspires me a lot. Miss Yam Yin Yee: She has shown her passion in watching the East Asian Games which was held in Hong Kong. She felt proud of Hong Kong being the host of the games. Her writing is neat and meaningful. I hope she will be a contender in the games one day. Mr Eldred: It is nice to see that the games have inspired you and who knows one day you may even be a part of it.
