Business Launch Competition

• The Technology Association of Georgia aims to support the creation and growth of new companies that will strengthen and expand Georgia's strategic high-tech clusters. This is an event designed to help a local start up technology-based company launch its business. The contest finalists will receive over $450,000 in cash and prizes. This is TAG’s way to reward high-tech entrepreneurship and assure a deserving Georgia start up company has everything in place to be successful.

• The TAG Business Launch 2013 will invite entries in the area of Internet Technologies. This includes software and hardware companies that are developing products, online services, or backend technologies, which extend the reach, flexibility and ease of the internet.

• The preliminary application deadline has passed.

Excalibur Awards• The TAG Excalibur Awards, hosted in collaboration with our Business & Technology Alliance

society recognize the companies and organizations throughout Georgia that demonstrate the best use of technology, typically provided by a third-party, to solve complex business problems. A tech-enabled company may also develop its own non-commercial technology solutions to enhance the business.

• Companies are ineligible if:• This technology is a product the company is selling• The nomination/application is for consulting services rather than technology being used• The company is not a Georgia company

• Criteria for entry include:(1)  Complexity of the ProblemHow the business problem was resolved or business enhancement achieved through the innovative use of technology. In particular evaluate the complexity of the situation.

• (2)  Creativity of the SolutionHow the technology is being used to conduct business differently? Did it change any fundamental business principles or philosophies? Did it have an impact on the company’s culture?

• (3)  Return on Investment (ROI)/Business ResultsWere savings or increased productivity realized in cost, time, people, capacity, production volume and other areas?

Product Management Awards• The 2013 awards cover the calendar year from January 1 to December 31,

2013.   • Awards will be segmented by company revenue:

▫ Product Manager of the Year▫ Rookie Product Manager of the Year - Less than three years Product

Management experience▫ Product Launch of the Year▫ Impact Award

• The Technology Association of Georgia's Product Manager of the Year Award recognizes the outstanding efforts of a Product Manger to development, adhere, and execute the ideals of our profession.  Whether it is a product or service that breaks new ground or driving a product through its life cycle, this award is to an individual that upholds the highest standards of Product Management. It may not yet be proven in the marketplace but an understanding of the potential market must be demonstrated. The product or service could include hardware, software, services - such as training or support, telecommunications, new techniques or any similar innovation. This award may also consist of a unique combination of technologies that have been combined for the first time.

Intel Innovation Awards• Do you have an innovative health IT company, service or product?• Is your hospital, clinic or practice using technology in new and

exciting ways?• Have you found a way to improve patient outcomes or deliver

healthcare that leverages technology?• Apply now for the Innovation Award and a chance to spotlight your company

at the 2013 Health IT Leadership Summit. The top four organizations will be featured at the Summit and receive extensive pre- and post-event publicity. 

• Because collaboration is often a central part of innovation, applicants should include all partners involved with their technology or approach.

• Innovation can occur anywhere, so we will be looking for examples at every level, from colleges to large enterprises, from single physician practices to healthcare delivery systems, from nonprofits and government entities to private payers.

• A team of health IT pros will evaluate the entries and select semi-finalists. Each semi-finalist will be interviewed and their technology researched, with the Innovation Committee making a final decision based upon such factors as magnitude of the benefits, current and future impact, quality of care, impact on workflow, etc.
