The need to promote international business is becoming one of the most critical issues in Japan’s construction sector. There are three major aspects related to promotion of international business, namely, 1) technological, 2) customer/user and 3) construction industry issues. Customer/user issues and construction industry issues may be classified together as social issues. This forum examines these issues from various viewpoints. Session 1 will provide a whole overview of the forum. Session 2 will highlight technological issues in planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance, safety and cost of infrastructure. Session 3 will highlight business market issues in developing countries on both sides of customers/users and construction industries. Sessions 2 and 3 consist of presentations and panel discussions.
