A. Applicants who submitted their ‘Prospective Graduate Certificate’ but, fail to submit their proof of graduation (diploma and official transcripts) before the enrollment date. B. Applicants who fail to pay their tuition fee before the designated deadline. C. Applicants who are accepted and enrolled by false entry, forged, or any other dishonest means.D. Applicants who fail to submit all required materials by the deadline.E. Applicants who are ineligible for application.F. Applicants who are enrolled in two or more universities on the same semester.G. Applicants who fail the visa screening process (only for visa candidates).

3. Important Information when ApplyingA. You must be well-acquainted with this Admissions Guide to minimize mistakes.B. 4. Eligibility for ApplicationA. Language Proficiency

※ Once admitted, students must attain TOPIK Grade 4 or higher before graduation.

1) Applicants who have attained Grade 3 or higher in the TOPIK exam or students who have completed Korean Level 4 at the Korean Language Education Center of Chonbuk National UniversityApplicants who are registered to take the TOPIK exam in April may apply but they must submit their TOPIK certification(Grade 3 or higher) until Jun 5, 2014. Failure to do so will result in automatic disqualification.

※ Applicants of the College of Arts may apply even without the above mentioned language proficiency qualifications if they are capable of “taking classes in Korean.”

2) Department of International Studies (▲)- Minimum score required for standard exams TOEFL: PBT 550, CBT 210, iBT 80, IELTS: 5.5, TEPS: 550 or Completion of secondary or higher education in countries where English is the primary language of education (Ex. U.S.A, Canada, England, Australia and Republic of South Africa). - From a non-native English country but completed the education from an institute where the primary language of education is English. * Must submit a proof document showing the primary language of education is

B. Nationality and Education Course1) Foreigners whose parents are not Koreans or

Foreigners who graduated from elementary, middle school, high school and college outside Korea regardless of parents’ nationality.

2) Foreigners who completed at least 1-year (2 semesters) or 2-year (4 semesters) course in Korea or from other universities abroad with at least 35 or 70 units.

※ Students who graduated from colleges without the accrediting system cannot apply.

3) Foreigners who graduated from colleges in Korea or other colleges abroad (including students who are expected to graduate on August of 2014) with at least 70 units/credits.

※ Students who graduated from colleges without the accrediting system cannot apply.

4) Applicants can select their major regardless of their former university major. The units obtained from the applicant’s former university would be evaluated and credited upon the decision of the department head.

5) Application is limited whom have a disciplinary punishment from former university.

6) Registered CBNU students (current students, temporarily-withdrawn students, expelled students) cannot apply.

5. Important Announcement for Admissions

※ Excludes students applying for International Studies.

A. Applicants with TOPIK certification lower than Grade 3 or no certification at all- If admitted, applicants will only be able to register for a maximum of 12 course credits per semester until TOPIK certification Grade 3 or higher is attained.

B. Applicants with TOPIK certification of Grade 4 or higher- If admitted, applicants will be able to register for the maximum of credits allowed per semester

C. Graduation Postponement Policy- Admitted students who fail to attain TOPIK certification of Grade 4 or higher

before graduation will have their graduation date postponed indefinitely.

6. Required Documents※ Documents should be submitted in the following order.※ Incomplete documents will NOT be accepted.※ All documents in other foreign languages must have a Korean or

English translation. There is no need to submit a notarization.

Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

- Residents in Foreign Country: A financial guarantor’s certificate of balance showing 12,000,000 KRW (12,000 USD) or more.

7. Application Reminders1) Write down the exact name of the department applied for in Korean.2) Changing of department is not allowed once the application has been accepted.3) All documents must be in Korean or English. All other documents in another

completed on or before the deadline. Only the application that met the deadline is acceptable when you apply via mail.

5) Important Notes - The number of admission may be limited within the capacity of each

department.

- For juniors (3rd year student) who show lack of knowledge in mathematical skills, the

Chair of Department may choose to demote the student as a sophomore (2nd year student).

- Additional tests may be conducted by the department if necessary. - By rule, on-campus interview is mandatory; however, a phone interview can

be conducted for applicants living abroad. - If it is found that the applicant has conducted the interview by a substitute,

the admission will be canceled even though the semester has already started.- Interview location and date will be announced on website on May. 30(Fri),

2014.- An applicant who is not eligible for application will still not be admitted

regardless of his scores.- Other aspects regarding admission are based on the policy of the Committee

of Admission for International Students.

cancelled automatically.4) Applicants may pay the bill by visiting the designated bank or remit it to the

designated bank account (refer to bill). Bill can be printed out at http://home.jbnu.ac.kr/dunrok. (Student ID number can be found at the right-hand bottom corner of the Certificate of Admission)

5) Students who live abroad may have a representative in Korea remit the tuition fee by proxy.

6) We will notify the detailed Registration Information on the website after the admission announcement.

11. Reminders1) Students who fail to receive the certificate of Korean language course

completion (grade 4 or higher) before the deadline will be disqualified during the selection process. (This applies to applicants who already submitted the Certificate of Enrollment or the expected Korean language course completion, the test identification slip).

2) Admitted students who are expected to graduate former university must get and submit the graduation certificate before the beginning of the semester, otherwise admission will be cancelled.

3) If any of the application documents contain false information or forgery, admission will be cancelled immediately.

4) If it is found that an applicant is admitted by illegal means or the applicant's graduation is unapproved by CBNU, admission will be cancelled, even if the applicant is already attending the university. Tuition fee is non-refundable.

5) CBNU is not responsible for admission cancellation due to the mistakes made on the application, missing documents, and unfulfilled entry procedures.

6) All the information including admission announcements will be posted on the university website. Please follow the directions carefully.

7) All accepted applicants must complete all admission and registration procedures before the deadline. If the tuition fee is not paid on the deadline, admission will be cancelled.

8) Regulations of Chonbuk National University are applied to the items that are not defined on this prospectus and other particulars are decided by the Committee of Admission Screening for International Students.

9) Students must submit their insurance certificate by 1/4 of the semester period proving their insurance policy from a private insurance company or the National Health Insurance Corporation.

- If applying for International Student Accidental Insurance, the maximum indemnification amount must be at least 10,000 dollars for overseas insurance policies and 10 million won for domestic insurance policies with regards to injury or hospitalization.

B. Scholarship for International Students※ Scholarships will be provided according to student proficiency level in

Korean for the first semester. Starting from the second semester, scholarships will be granted according to the Chonbuk National University International Student Scholarship Regulations.

※ Students must submit their Proof of International Student Insurance Policy by 1/4 of the semester period. Failure to admit the Proof of International Student Policy will prevent scholarship candidates from receiving scholarships the following semester.

1) Scholarship for the first semester(based on proficiency in Korean language)

- 1st Level Scholarship (Admission Fee + Instruction Fee + University Fee Waived): Students who have TOPIK Grade 5 certification or higher.

- 2nd Level Scholarship (University Fee Waived): Students with TOPIK Grade 4 - 3rd Level Scholarship (50% of University Fee Waived): Students with TOPIK Grade 3

2) Scholarship for International Studies majors- Scholarship for the first semester

All admitted students will receive 1st Level Scholarship- Scholarship starting from second semester

1st Level Scholarship(entire tuition waived): Students whose previous semester’s grade point average is 4.06 or higher

2nd Level Scholarship(University Fee waived): Students whose previous semester’s grade point average is between 3.63 and 4.06

3rd Level Scholarship(50% of University Fee waived): Students whose previous semester’s grade point average is between 3.19 and 3.63

5th Level Scholarship(Instruction Fee waived): Students whose previous semester’s grade point average is between 2.75 and 3.19

※ Students who obtain a semester grade point average lower than 2.75 will not receive scholarship

3) Scholarship for International Students (excluding International Studies majors)- All Scholarships will abide by the Chonbuk National University International Student Scholarship Regulations starting from the second semester.

- Qualification: among those with a previous semester grade point average of 2.75 or higher, students that apply to criteria set by the Chonbuk National University International Student Scholarship Regulations.

- The scholarship is available for 8 semesters at most.- Types of Scholarship: Whole Tuition (100%), University Fee(70-80%), Half of the University Fee, Instruction Fee(20-30%)

4) Scholarship for International Families- Scholarships will be provided if there are two or more family members enrolled at Chonbuk National University.

▷ Once submitted, applications cannot be cancelled and prospective students cannot change

majors. Applications fees are non-refundable after submission of application. Prospective

students may not apply for multiple programs within CBNU so please take careful

consideration when choosing major and department.

▷ Prospective students must bring a form of photo identification (i.e. Passport, Alien

Registration Card) to the test site. Students who fail to bring photo ID will not be able to take

the tests.

▷ Mobile phones or any form of wireless communication is not allowed inside the

examination rooms. Please note that trying to bring in a wireless communication device into

the examination rooms will be a direct violation of the Student Code of Conduct, and thus

will result in automatic disqualification.

▷ Any disadvantage caused by an input error in the application form is the sole

responsibility of the applicant. If the applicant provides falsified information or attain

credentials through dishonest means, CBNU has the right to cancel admission.

▷ Interviews will be conducted on Nov. 26th (Tue), 2014, are mandatory and will be

organized according to the major and department of prospective students. Applicants who

fail to participate will be disqualified. More information on the interview process will be

announced on Nov. 21st (Thu), 2014, on the Notice Board(학사공지) from the CBNU website.

▷ With the exception of applicants who have been requested to provide supplementary

information, if the applicant’s admission documents do not arrive before the stated deadline

or if the application is incomplete, the prospective student will not gain admission and the

application fee will not be refunded.

▷ Prospective students must be in contact(phone number listed on application) even during

examination periods and any disadvantage caused by not being able to reach the applicant is

the responsibility of the applicant.

▷ Grades for admission exams will not be disclosed.
