1. Why are you seeking the endorsement from Stonewall Democrats of Dallas? I have always

wholeheartedly supported the mission statement of Stonewall Democrats and, like SDD, am

committed to advancing equal rights for all people, regardless of seual orientation or gender

identity and epression.

!. What are your plans to support or participate in a coordinated campaign in the general

election in Dallas "ounty? I will make myself availa#le to participate in such a campaign and

will gladly take my lead from those who are organi$ing it.

-. When elected, how will you recruit, retain, and create a friendly environment for /0+ and

/0+(friendly staff? y office, #oth in the "apitol and the district, has always #een known as

one that is very /0+ friendly and, during legislative sessions, we have offered our "apitol

office as a haven for mem#ers of the /0+ community who need a place to rest, work and

regroup while advocating for /0+ rights in the "apitol. In addition, we have had several

staffers in the past who are openly gay and, #y our efforts and reputation in the /0+

community, have made it known that we will always #e an /0+(friendly office.

2. Would you #e willing to appoint a liaison to meet with the /0+ community on a ongoing

#asis? If not, why? 3#solutely.

4. Will you #e willing to lead or support efforts to develop a /0+ +askforce, similar to the

structure and mission the Dallas "ity "ouncil developed? I am happy to support such efforts.

legislation or constitutional amendments pertaining to this issue.

Supporting the repeal of the +eas arriage7"ivil 8nion 3mendment. I am happy to support

and lend my name to legislation or constitutional amendments pertaining to this issue.

9. 6ow would you address the recent trend of state government adding medically unnecessary

procedures to the course of treatments pertaining to women:s health *e.g. the requirement to

have a witnessed sonogram prior to the legal termination of a pregnancy'? I voted against this

legislation and have #een an outspoken critic of these procedures.

;. What would you do to support and assist people with mental illness who must rely on the

pu#lic system for care in or out of incarceration? I have supported increased funding for

programs that support and assist the mentally ill and will continue to do so.

1<. 6ow would you lead or support efforts to provide #etter funding for health care and #etter

health care options for all +eas residents? I have consistently supported increases in the state

#udget for #etter funding for health care and #etter health care options for all +eas

residents.

11. Would you support an 3"3 edicaid epansion in +eas? 3#solutely.

1!. 6ow would you lead or support the efforts to teach comprehensive seual education in +eas?

I have always supported the teaching of comprehensive seual education in +eas pu#lic

schools.

providing employment and residence non(discrimination protections for /0+ citi$ens #y the

+eas State egislature? I will always support legislation compara#le to the federal =quality

3ct.

1-. What specific ideas do you have and7or what current legislation would you support to improve

our state economy and address the wealth disparity in +eas? I would support efforts to

increase the minimum wage and am open to ideas that would address the wealth disparity,

such as eliminating taes on certain goods for those individuals who are at a certain

percentage of the poverty rate.

12. 6ow would you handle a situation in which you or an employee under you felt the need to not

fulfill all your lawful work duties due to >deeply held religious #eliefs? I would never feel

the need to not fulfill my lawful work duties due to @deeply held religious #eliefs@ and would

not tolerate any such #ehavior on the part of any of my employees.



14. 6ow would you lead or support legislation restoring pu#lic education funding in +eas that

was dramatically cut after the !<<9 recession? I have consistently supported efforts to

restore funding cuts to pu#lic education.

15. 6ow would you lead or support legislation restoring previous funding for 6IA prevention in

+eas? I have #een supportive of legislation to restore funding cuts for 6IA prevention andwill continue to do so.
