SCHEDULES FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE WEEK Thursday normal schedule: Those students who are in the choir will be travelling down to the Cathedral as well as any students participating in the Mass or event. The bus will leave at 3:10 p.m. Note: all students participating in the Mass need to have those clothes ready. The dress is normal school Mass dress (gentlemen in ties, ladies in regular school dress). Friday special schedule: We will be using the day for PSAT review and a talk with Karl Keating. We will be conducting a PSAT review during a portion of the day on Friday. At 8:45, Mr. Keating will be on campus to meet with students and teachers. That will last until 9:30. After that, he will be meeting with the prolife club, and then heading back home. Our fall athletes and cheerleaders will be representing the school at the Comal County Fair Parade. Those students will be in jeans, tennis shoes, and athletic uniforms. All other students, due to Mr. Keating’s visit, will be in regular school dress. They will leave by bus at 9:30, and return to campus by Noon. MEDICATIONS ON CAMPUS: A reminder to parents and students… No students are allowed to keep on their persons/in their lockers any medication during the school day. All medications kept at school must be accompanied by a completed and signed Archdiocesan Medicine Permission Form, and stored in the school office.   THURSDAY AFTER-COFFEE PRESENTATION  Next  week,  on  Thursday,  29  September,  Mrs.  Strickland  will  be  hosting  a  discussion  and  Q&A  time  for  junior  class  parents.    She  will  get  started  at  8:15  a.m.  in  the  media  center,  and  will  run  through  some  basics  of  the  college  process,  help  parents  log  on  to  some  important  web  sites,  and  then  answer  questions.    Generally,  she  would  like  to  provide  this  kind  of  forum  for  those  who  are  not  clear  on  what  the  process  is,  and  where  they  should  be  right  now.    It  should  last  about  45  minutes  to  an  hour  and  fifteen  minutes.  

PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES  We  will  be  scheduling  fall  conferences  very  soon.    We  like  to  run  these  before  the  end  of  the  first  quarter,  and  so  that  date  will  be  set  in  the  next  week.    As  soon  as  the  date  is  selected,  we  will  notify  parents. PROGRESS REPORTS POSTED  Student  progress  reports  were  posted  yesterday  (Tuesday)  on  RenWeb,  and  students  with  any  failing  grades  had  progress  reports  sent  home  for  signature. TARDIES  Students  are  considered  tardy  if  they  are  not  in  their  homeroom  /  first  period  class  by  the  time  the  8  a.m.  bell  rings.    Students  are  allowed  five  tardies  per  semester  before  any  disciplinary  actions  are  taken.    Please  refer  to  pages  nine  and  ten  of  the  Student-­‐Parent  Handbook  for  additional  details.    Notices  will  be  mailed  &  emailed  out  to  parents  this  week  to  notify  families  of  excessive  tardies.  

THURSDAY MORNINGS A  reminder:  Thursday  mornings,  7:30  –  8:30  a.m.  free  coffee  for  parents.    Prayer  group  at  8:30  a.m.,  in  school  chapel  room.    Stop  by  if  you  can!  

FISHERS OF M.E.N. BACKPACK DRIVE The   Fishers   of  M.E.N.   club  will   be   hosting   a   backpack   drive   from   now   until   September   23rd.     The   goal   is   to  collect  100  backpacks  that  are  new  or  gently  used.  These  backpacks  will  be  given  to  OLPH  to  put  in  their  AMIGA  project,  which  is  also  collecting  backpacks  to  take  to  street  children  in  Honduras.      Fishers  of  M.E.N.  is  also  looking  for  20  student  volunteers  to  go  to  OLPH  on  September  24th  to  take  the  backpacks  and  help  pack  up  the  truck  that  they  will  be  filling  with  the  donated  backpacks  and  other  materials.  

•••••••  If  we  reach  our  goal  of  100  backpacks,  we  will  get  a  blue  and  gold  day!  •••••••••  

PRO-LIFE UPDATES Tour  of  the  Holy  Spirit  House:  Thanks  to  all  the  students  and  parents  who  participated  in  the  tour!  We  had  a  perfect  turn  out  due  to  the  size  of  the  building.  Thanks  also  to  all  those  who  participated  in  the  coin  drive  last  year.  They  were  very  excited  to  receive  our  surprise  donation.  Be  on  the  lookout  for  more  ways  to  get  involved  with  the  Gabriel  Project!  

COLLEGE FAIRS!  

Tuesday,  27  September,  from  6-­8  p.m.  at  San  Marcos  High  School                      (The  27th  &  28th  will  be  the  same  schools.)  Wednesday,  28  September,  from  6-­8  p.m.  at  Smithson  Valley  High  School.        

Thursday,  27  October,  from  6:30-­8:30  p.m.  at  St.  Mary’s  University  (Greehey  Arena).        

Note:   That   Thursday,   27   October,   is   also   the   night   we   have   planned   for   the   night   pep   rally   for   Founders’  Weekend.    We  are  attempting  to  make  it  possible  for  students  to  attend  the  college  fair  and  participate  in  a  pep  rally  back  here  at  the  school.  

SCHOOL STORE With  our  student/family  population  growing,  access  to  the  Spirit  Store  needs  to  be  updated.    Mrs.  Sullivan  will  no   longer   be   available   to   assist  with   purchases   from   the   Spirit   Store.    The   Spirit   Store  will   be   open  Tuesday  mornings  from  7:30  a.m.  -­‐  8  a.m.    The  Spirit  Store  committee  will  make  every  effort  possible  to  be  at  different  community  and  athletic  events   to  sell   items.    If  you  are   interested   in  purchasing   items  outside  of   these   times,  please  contact  Mrs.  Pam  Gutierrez  at  210.490.6575.    Please  leave  a  message,  and  she  will  return  your  call  and  schedule  a  time  for  you  to  come  by  the  school  to  make  your  purchases.    Thank  you  for  your  help.
