Important Safety Notice Proper service and repair is important to the safe, reliable operation of all AOC Company Equipment. The service procedures recommended by AOC and described in this service manual are effective methods of performing service operations. Some of these service operations require the use of tools specially designed for the purpose. The special tools should be used when and as recommended.
It is important to note that this manual contains various CAUTIONS and NOTICES which should be carefully read in order to minimize the risk of personal injury to service personnel. The possibility exists that improper service methods may damage the equipment. It is also important to understand that these CAUTIONS and NOTICES ARE NOT EXHAUSTIVE. AOC could not possibly know, evaluate and advise the service trade of all conceivable ways in which service might be done or of the possible hazardous consequences of each way. Consequently, AOC has not undertaken any such broad evaluation. Accordingly, a servicer who uses a service procedure or tool which is not recommended by AOC must first satisfy himself thoroughly that neither his safety nor the safe operation of the equipment will be jeopardized by the service method selected. Hereafter throughout this manual, AOC Company will be referred to as AOC. WARNING Use of substitute replacement parts, which do not have the same, specified safety characteristics may create shock, fire, or other hazards. Under no circumstances should the original design be modified or altered without written permission from AOC. AOC assumes no liability, express or implied, arising out of any unauthorized modification of design. Servicer assumes all liability. Take care during handling the LCD module with backlight unit -Must mount the module using mounting holes arranged in four corners. -Do not press on the panel, edge of the frame strongly or electric shock as this will result in damage to the screen. -Do not scratch or press on the panel with any sharp objects, such as pencil or pen as this may result in damage to the panel. -Protect the module from the ESD as it may damage the electronic circuit (C-MOS). -Make certain that treatment person’s body is grounded through wristband. -Do not leave the module in high temperature and in areas of high humidity for a long time. -Avoid contact with water as it may a short circuit within the module. -If the surface of panel becomes dirty, please wipe it off with a soft material. (Cleaning with a dirty or rough cloth may damage the panel.)

2.LCD Monitor Description The LCD monitor will contain a main board, an adapter board, a converter board and a key board which house the flat panel control logic, brightness control logic and DDC. The power part will provide AC to DC Inverter voltage to drive the backlight of panel and the main board chips each voltage.

3. Operating Instructions 3.1 General Instructions Press the power button to turn the monitor on or off. The other control knobs are located at front panel of the monitor (See Figure ). By changing these settings, the picture can be adjusted to your personal preferences. * The power cord should be connected. * Press the power button to turn on the monitor. The power indicator will light up.
3.2 Control Buttons and Connections
Power
Press the Power button to turn on/off the monitor. Eco (DCR)/ - Press the Eco key continuously to select the Eco mode of brightness and DCR on when there is no OSD. ( Eco mode hot key may not be available in all models). 4:3 or Wide/+ When there is no OSD, press + continuously to change 4:3 or wide image ratio. (If the product screen size is 4:3 or input signal resolution is wide format, the hot key is disable to adjust. ) Auto / Exit When the OSD is closed,. Press Auto button continuously to do auto configure (Only for the models with dual or more inputs). Source hot key When the OSD is closed, press Source button will be Source hot key function. Press Source button continuously to select the input source showed in the message bar , press Menu/Enter button to change to the source selected.

To protect equipment, always turn off the PC and LCD monitor before connecting.
1 Connect the power cable to the AC port on the back of the monitor.
2 Connect one end of the 15-pin D-Sub cable to the back of the monitor and connect the other end to the
computer's D-Sub port.
3. Connect one end of the DVI cable to the back of the monitor and connect the other end to the computer‟s DVI
port.
4 Turn on your monitor and computer.
If your monitor displays an image, installation is complete. If it does not display an image, please refer
Troubleshooting.

3.3 OSD Setting Basic and simple instruction on the control keys.
1) Press the MENU-button to activate the OSD window. 2) Press - or + to navigate through the functions. Once the desired function is highlighted, press the MENU-button to activate it. press - or + to navigate through the sub-menu functions. Once the desired function is highlighted, press MENU-button to activate it. 3) Press - or + to change the settings of the selected function. Press AUTO to exit. If you want to adjust any other function, repeat steps 2-3. 4) OSD Lock Function: To lock the OSD, press and hold the MENU button while the monitor is off and then press power button to turn the monitor on. To un-lock the OSD - press and hold the MENU button while the monitor is off and then press power button to turn the monitor on. Notes: 1) If the product has only one signal input, the item of "Input Select" is disable to adjust. 2) If the product screen size is 4:3 or input signal resolution is wide format, the item of "Image Ratio" is disable to adjust. 3) One of DCR, Color Boost, and Picture Boost functions is active, the other two function is turned off accordingly.

Welcome to use AOC e-Saver monitor power management software! The AOC e-Saver features Smart Shutdown functions for your monitors, allows your monitor to timely shutdown when PC unit is at any status (On, Off, Sleep or Screen Saver); the actual shutdown time depends on your preferences (see example below). Please click on "driver/e-Saver/setup.exe" to start installing the e-Saver software, follow the install wizard to complete software installation. Under each of the four PC status, you may choose from the pull-down menu the desired time (in minutes) for your monitor to automatically shutdown. The example above illustrated: 1) The monitor will never shutdown when the PC is powered on. 2) The monitor will automatically shutdown 5 minutes after the PC is powered off. 3) The monitor will automatically shutdown 10 minutes after the PC is in sleep/stand-by mode. 4) The monitor will automatically shutdown 20 minutes after the screen saver appears.
You can click “RESET” to set the e-Saver to its default settings like below.

Welcome to "Screen+" software by AOC, Screen+ software is a desktop screen splitting tool, it splits the desktop into different panes, each pane displays a different window. You only need to drag the window to a corresponding pane, when you want to access it. It supports multiple monitor display to make your task easier. Please follow the installation software to install it.

4.3 Panel Specification 4.3.1 General Features LM230WF5-TLD3 is a Color Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display Light Emitting Diode ( White LED) backlight system without LED driver. The matrix employs a-Si Thin Film Transistor as the active element. It is a transmissive type display operating in the normally white mode. It has a 23 inch diagonally measured active display area with FHD resolution (1080 vertical by 1920 horizontal pixel array) Each pixel is divided into Red, Green and Blue sub-pixels or dots which are arranged in vertical stripes. Gray scale or the brightness of the sub-pixel color is determined with a 8-bit gray scale signal for each dot, thus, presenting a palette of more than 16,7M colors with Advanced-FRC(Frame Rate Control). It has been designed to apply the interface method that enables low power, high speed, low EMI. FPD Link or compatible must be used as a LVDS(Low Voltage Differential Signaling) chip. It is intended to support applications where thin thickness, wide viewing angle, low power are critical factors and graphic displays are important. In combination with the vertical arrangement of the sub-pixels, the LM230WF5-TLD3 characteristics provide an excellent flat panel display for office automation products such as monitors. 4.3.2 GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS
4.3.3 Electrical Characteristics Electrical characteristics
Note : 1. The specified current and power consumption are under the VLCD=5.0V, 25 ± 2°C, fV=60Hz condition whereas mosaic pattern(8 x 6) is displayed and fV is the frame frequency. 2. The current is specified at the maximum current pattern. 3. Permissive power ripple should be measured under VCC=5.0V, 25°C, fV (frame frequency)=75Hz condition and At that time, we recommend the bandwidth configuration of oscilloscope is to be under 20MHz. 4. The duration of rush current is about 2ms and rising time of power Input is 500us ± 20%.

LED array electrical characteristics
LED driver design guide: The design of the LED driver must have specifications for the LED in LCD Assembly. The performance of the LED in LCM, for example life time or brightness, is extremely influenced by the characteristics of the LED driver. So all the parameters of an LED driver should be carefully designed and output current should be Constant current control. Please control feedback current of each string individually to compensate the current variation among the strings of LEDs. When you design or order the LED driver, please make sure unwanted lighting caused by the mismatch of the LED and the LED driver (no lighting, flicker, etc) never occurs. When you confirm it, the LCD module should be operated in the same condition as installed in your instrument. 1. Specified values are for a single LED bar. 2. The specified current is input LED chip 100% duty current. 3. The specified voltage is input LED string and Bar voltage at typical 120 mA 100% duty current. 4. The specified power consumption is input LED bar power consumption at typical 120 mA 100% duty current. 5. The life is determined as the time at which luminance of the LED is 50% compared to that of initial value at the typical LED current on condition of continuous operating at 25±2°C. 6. The LED bar power consumption shown above does not include loss of external driver. The used LED bar current is the LED typical current. Min Power Consumption is calculated with PBar = Vs(Min.) x Is(Typ.) x Nstring Max Power Consumption is calculated with PBar = Vbar(Max.) x Is(Typ) x Nstring 7. LED operating DC Forward Current must not exceed LED Max Ratings at 25±2°C.

Firmware and DDC Instruction 10.1 Firmware Instruction(Novatek ISP for exemple NT68676) Step 1:OPERATION CONDITIONS: 1) An i486 (or above) personal computer or compatible. 2) Microsoft operation system Windows 95/98/2000/XP. 3) ISPTool programs programs. 4) Printer cable and VGA cable. 5) ISP board (PN: 715GT034-B,715GT048-1 or715GT035-A). 6) ISP Firmware/Software Step 2:Connection: 1) LPT cable connect PC and ISP board ; 2) VGA cable connect monitor and ISP board ; 3) Reference picture as below NO1. Note: After installation, you must restart the PC to take the setup to effect. Step4:Check whether the FW version is correct, then do “Auto Color” and “Reset”. a. For VGA, if can’t use the recommended optimal resolution; for DVI, if no video with PC source, while picture is
normal with chroma source, it’s the reason for “DDC Loss”, so pls do DDC programming. b. When the monitor connects the DVD or other play devices with DVI->HDMI cable, and play the HD video with
copyright, while the low-resolution, snowflake point or no video with normal audio; But picture is normal with PC source, pls programming the “HDCP code” or replace the new main board. (Pls refer to the “HDCP code” programming as below)
Step5: HDCP Write SOP I. Prepare condition:
1. Prepare one PC and the system is WIN98/NT/2000/XP, make sure the PC have Print Port. 2. Install Port95nt Software, the way of the install Port95 (LPT PORT drive):
a. selects the software of Port95nt.exe, and run it, b. After install ok, restart the PC.
3. Connect the cable and Jig: a. Use the Print cable to connect the PC and HDCP card. b. Connect the VGA cable with the ISP record card, the picture of Print cable, VGA cable and ISP card as below:

II. HDCP Write Step: Step1. Double click “HDCP20091026.exe”
Step2. Click “Load HDCP…”. choose the corresponding “*.BIN” by scaler IC (MST Scaler) ,then click “Open” as below.

Step3. Pls choose the item remarked in red (i.e.: New CMD/Only Connect One Monitor/MST Scaler), then click “Start” to write HDCP, when display “Monitor 1 PASS” means Write OK.

III. Check HDCP. USE “Blu-Ray Disc” DVD to check whether the monitor with DVI connector displays normally. If error message appeared “ ” as below:
1. Check whether the HDCP writer is correct. 2. Check whether the tool is correct or not, and check the connection between PC, Monitor and tool. In addition,
check whether the tool’s power supply is available. 3. If still no work, pls modify the “config.ini” as below, and then try again.
Modify Step: Right click “config.ini”-> Open with “Notepad”->”OK”-> Modify the HDCP value (350->500, 150->300, 500->700)->Save. PS: You can also open “config.ini” directly if you have opened it through “Open with ‘Notepad’ ” before.

Note6: If the burn software is unsuccessfulll, appear fault: 1. For VGA,the resolution will be not the best achieve. 2. For DVI,No picture,no sound. If program failed, in VGA mode, you can’t use the optimal resolution. When Read is OK, program is NG, pls do take following action: 1. For VGA,cut off the 9th pin (connect the monitor). 2. For DVI, cut off the 14th pin (the shortest pin, power supply). 3. Connect the EEPROM WP pin to ground.

11.White- Balance, Luminance Adjustment Approximately 30 minutes should be allowed for warm up before proceeding white balance adjustment.
How to setting MEM channel you can reference to chroma 7120 user guide or simple use “SC” key and
“NEXT” Key to modify xyY value and use “ID” key to modify the TEXT description Following is the procedure to do
white-balance adjust .
1. Setting the color temp. A. 6500K:
Warm color temp. parameter is x=313±30 ,y=329±30
B. 7300K
Normal color temp. parameter is x=302±30 ,y=318±30
C. 9300K
Cool color temp. parameter is x=283±30,y=297±30
D. sRGB
sRGB color temp. parameter is x=313±30 ,y=329±30
2. Enter into the factory mode: Press the MENU button,Pull out the power cord, then plug the power cord. Then the factory OSD will be at the left top of the panel.
3. Biase adjustment:
Set the Contrast to 50; Adjust the Brightness to 90.
4. Gain adjustment:
A. Adjust Warm (6500K) color-temperature
1. Switch the chroma-7120 to RGB-Mode (with press “MODE” button)
2. Switch the MEM.channel to Channel 3 (with up or down arrow on chroma 7120)
3. The LCD-indicator on chroma 7120 will show x=313±30 ,y=329±30
4. Adjust the RED on factory window until chroma 7120 indicator reached the value R=100
5. Adjust the GREEN on factory window until chroma 7120 indicator reachedthe value G=100
6. Adjust the BLUE on factory window until chroma 7120 indicator reached the value B=100
7. Repeat above procedure (item4, 5, 6) until chroma 7120 RGB value meet the tolerance =100±2
B. Adjust Normal (7300K) color-temperature
1. Switch the chroma-7120 to RGB-Mode (with press “MODE” button)
2. Switch the MEM.channel to Channel 4(with up or down arrow on chroma 7120)
3. The LCD-indicator on chroma 7120 will show x=302±30 ,y=318±30 4. Adjust the RED on factory window until chroma 7120 indicator reached the value R=100
5. Adjust the GREEN on factory window until chroma 7120 indicator reachedthe value G=100
6. Adjust the BLUE on factory window until chroma 7120 indicator reached the value B=100
7. Repeat above procedure (item 4, 5, 6) until chroma 7120 RGB value meet the tolerance =100±2

12.Mechanical Instructions 1. Put the monitor on the EPE pad.
2. Lay down the monitor and the bottom side faces to Yourself.

3. Pinch the hook and remove the base.
4. Use fixture to leave off the stand.

6. Remove the screws of the stand.

8. Overturn the monitor and the top towards to yourself, and then take apart the front frame with hands.

11. According to the different defective area to take off the KEPC, light line, LVDS, Hexagon screws, CBPC or PWPC to repair. (1)Remove the KEPC.
(2)Pull the light line out.
