ARTUR DUTKIEWICZ SOLO PIANO JAZZ MAZURKAS jazz / classic

Artur Dutkiewicz presents his own contemporary jazz mazurkas from his latest album “Mazurki”. The mazurka (in Polish, mazurek, pl. mazurki) is a Polish folk dance in triple meter. Artur’s mazurkas are influenced by F. Chopin, K. Szymanowski, B. Bartok and Polish folk music,combined with modern jazz improvisation. The compositions draw on European improvised music stemming from traditions of classical and contemporary music. In this program, classical music, Polish folk music and trance jazz improvisation are combined as one original whole.This is a pioneering project in contemporary solo piano music. Artur Dutkiewicz’s “Mazurki” was granted a scholarship from The Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. pianistów jazzowych powraca do Australii z koncertami solowymi.

Koncerty w Australii są częścią solowej trasy obejmującej również występy w Nowej Zelandii.

Na program recitalu składają się autorskie, jazzowe mazurki Artura Dutkiewicza (z płyty „Mazurki” 2012)

inspirowane polską muzyką ludową oraz europejską muzyką klasyczną m.in. utworami F. Chopina, K.

Szymanowskiego i B. Bartoka. Mazurki Artura Dutkiewicza, oparte na rytmach ludowych, łączące elementy

muzyki klasycznej z jazzem w w ółcz n l zyc

fortepianowej. Częścią programu będą również improwizacje na temat pieśni wywodzących się z różnych

kultur świata: Europy, Bliskiego i Dalekiego Wschodu.

ARTUR DUTKIEWICZ

One of Poland’s greatest jazz pianists, as well as composer, born in Pinczów, Poland in 1958.

He graduated from The Academy of Music in Katowice, Poland and received a diploma with distinction.

Dutkiewicz was a finalist in the Thelonious Monk Competition in Washington, USA and he was the first Polish musician to play a solo recital at MIDEM in Cannes.

Artur Dutkiewicz is called the "Ambassador of Polish jazz" - in the last few years he has performed in 50 countries around the world.

Artur’s SOLO CAREER spans over 30 years. He also performs in the ARTUR DUTKIEWICZ TRIO, playing modern jazz.

In June 2015 he toured with his trio in Australia and New Zealand.

Artur's latest albums “Mazurki” and “Prana”, comprised entirely of his own compositions, have been enthusiastically received by audiences and critics.

Dutkiewicz has taken part in many renowned jazz and music festivals around the world such as: North Sea Jazz Festival, Hague; Jazz Jamboree, Warsaw; Campnagel Theater, Hamburg; Festival Kleiner Bunchen, Bern; Jazz Ost West, Nuremberg; MIDEM, Cannes; Music Oggi, Milan; Festival D`Europe Centrale, Paris; Europe XXL, Vienna; Sziget Festival, Budapest; Jazz Plaza Festival, Havana; Tel Aviv Jazz Festival; Glasgow Jazz Festival; Duesseldorf Jazz Rally; World Culture Festival, Berlin; Notturni in Palestro Festival, Milan; BJ Ninegates Jazz Festival, Beijing; Kontu Festival, Helsinki; Melbourne Int. Jazz Festival.

In July 2011 Arthur Dutkiewicz performed at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin during the World Culture Festival. Especially for this event he arranged and played a piece for 30 pianos with pianists from around the world. He also performed jazz improvisation with world-renowned pianist Cyprien Katsaris. The concert, attended by thirty five thousand people, was an expression of respect for the diversity of cultures and the message of peace to the world.
