開催にあたり

ビル・エヴァンスが亡くなって30年の月日が経ちました。様々な楽器を演奏し、ピアノだけでなくローズを中心としたエレ

クトリックピアノにも先進的に取り組んだ演奏家として、また、誰にでも親しみやすいリリシズム溢れるスタンダードナンバ

ーから十二階音楽やジョージ・ラッセルの「リディアンクロマティックコンセプト」を取り入れた前衛的な作編曲家として、

創造性に溢れる彼の表現は多くの人に深く影響を与え、彼に影響を受けた音楽家達の作品群もまたリスナーに感銘

を与えてきました。スコット・ラファロやポール・モチアンとの第1期トリオによるリヴァーサイド4部作ばかりが取り上げられ

ますが、チャック・イスラエルやラリー・バンカーとの第2期トリオ、エディー・ゴメスとマーティー・モレルやエリオット・ジグ

ムンドとの第3期トリオ、マーク・ジョンソンやジョー・ラ・バーバラとのラストトリオ、そしてソロ作品や数かずの企画ものの

中にも第1期トリオに引けを取らない魅力が感じられます。特に第3期トリオ以降の作品群には深遠で内省的な世界

観が表現されており、絶望的な現代社会を生きる私達へのヒントのようなものが隠されているように感じてなりません。

没後30周年のこの機会にビル・エヴァンスに再び目を向けて、その光と影に触れてみる事は非常に有意義な事では

ないかと思います。

「ビル・エヴァンス没後 30 周年にあたり NHK BS2 放送予定の番組を制作するので１リスナーとして話を聞かせて欲し

い。」㈱ジーズ・コーポレーションの佐藤様より私のホームページ「楽しい音楽を聴く♪」を通じてメールが届いたのが

2010 年 8 月１９日の事でした。世界の音楽を紹介するページとしてむしろワールドミュージックを中心に書いていたペ

ージだったのでとても意外でした。私はたまたま好きな作品として「Undercurrent」と「You Must Believe in Spring」に加

え、簡単なバイオグラフィーを載せていただけで、特にビル・エヴァンスに詳しい訳でもないのに大丈夫かなと思いまし

た。しかし同時に、１リスナーとして表現の場を与えられたのだから全力を尽くすのが筋ではないかと思い直し、本イベ

ントの企画を思い当りました。１か月の間に買い足した音源を含めて 70 枚の作品を聴き直し改めて現代においてビ

ル・エヴァンスを見つめ直す意味を感じました。イベントに当たり、佐藤様、藤原様、古館様、マツモト様、ぢの様、タカ

ギ様、および「国境の南」店主波多野様に多大なるご尽力を頂きました。末筆ではありますが、ここに感謝の言葉を述
