    Setsunan University was established in 1975. It has 7 faculties and 13 departments in combination with arts and sciences, and has 6 graduate courses with 10 majors. Approximately 8,300 students are studying. We have two campuses in Neyagawa city and Hirakata city in Osaka prefecture. The main Neyagawa Campus has the International Center that provides Japanese language courses for short-term international students, and Japanese language tutorial for full-time international students.

    Osaka and NeyagawaOsaka is well known as one of the greatest cities in the world with a population of 26,000,000. 15 % of foreign citizens in Japan now live in Osaka. 18.9 % of home products are made in Osaka. Osaka is also known as a town of sightseeing, culture, and gourmet, so it enchants many tourists.

    The population of Neyagawa is about 240,000. It is located on the northeast of Osaka prefecture, about 15 kilometers from the center of Osaka city, and about 35 kilometers from the center of Kyoto city. If you take the train from Neyagawa city of Keihan line, you can get to Osaka city in about 20 minutes, and to Kyoto city in about 40 minutes.

    Class Scene

    Japanese Language Courses

    Setsunan University International Center provides two semester courses of Japanese language and Japanese culture classes for short-term international students. And we also offer shorter intensive course on request. There are classes to train skills such as reading, writing, listening, and speaking, and classes with various themes about Japanese society and culture. You can effectively improve Japanese proficiency from JLPT N3

    (intermediate level)to N1(advanced level).There are also chances to experience Japanese culture in practice, and study with Japanese students.

    Intensive Course(Custom Program)We offer various types of Japanese classes based on students’ major. We offer Custom Programs to oversea institutions who send a group of 10-15 students at a time. It is available from 1 week. Tuition depends on the term and the content.

    You can get some snacks, stationeries, books, etc. here. At the lounge in front of the kiosk, you can watch TV programs.

    International Student SupportersSetsunan University has an international student supporter system. There are currently 50 registered supporters.

    They are involved in various activities such as helping daily life of international students, helping them in field trips, and organizing events.

    Field Trips & Local Contribution ActivitiesShort-term international students are taking full opportunities to jump out of a classroom to learn Japanese culture.

    They also contribute to the local community by giving a class at schools as guest speakers, and by introducing culture of their home countries.

    International House(On-campus & Off-campus Dormitory)We have two dormitories on-campus and off-campus available for international students. Each room is fully furnished with a bathroom, an air conditioner, a sink, a bed, a desk, and a refrigerator, etc. The accommodation fee for a standard room is 50,000 yen per month, but international students who stay over 6 months may receive financial aid. For further information, please contact the International Center.

    1 Semester Course(For 6 month or a year)

    ① 1st Semester Enrollment

     ⃝ Submit the application form and the required documents to the International Center. ⃝Deadline: November 1st(5 months before the 1st Semester) ⃝ You will receive the result of the documentary examination by email.  Skype interview may be required.  * You are required basic Japanese language skills. (see to p.3) ⃝ We will apply for the certificate of qualification for the stay on behalf of you. ⃝ A month before your arrival date, inform us your flight schedule and preferred date of

    entering a dormitory.

    ② 2nd Semester

    Enrollment

     ⃝The process is the same as above. ⃝Deadline: April 1st (5 months before the 2nd Semester)

    2 Intensive Course(For 1week to several weeks)

     ⃝ Submit the application form and the required documents to the International Center. ⃝Deadline:2 months before the desired start date of your enrollment  ⃝ A month before your arrival date, inform us your flight schedule and preferred date of entering a dormitory.

    How to Apply

    The International Center handles all incoming and outgoing student exchanges at Setsunan. We offer international participants for Japanese Language Courses assistance with all aspects of academic and student life, as well as providing comprehensive support on application procedures to issuing a certificate at the end of the program. We hope studying in Setsunan will help you enrich your understanding further in Japanese culture and strengthen your language skills.
