Having gone through many generations, the analog camera, which has been the backbone of our business since our company's founding, is now using 23-cm square, high-sensitivity aerial film. To capture images while flying at high speeds, the camera is equipped with a special mechanism that prevents image blurring. Although digital aerial cameras are gradually replacing analog cameras, we still own six film-based analog cameras. Taking full advantage of the operational expertise of our highly trained photographers, as well as our well-established processes for developing negatives and printing photographs, etc., allows these analog cameras to perform at the same speeds as digital aerial cameras.
Film-based Analog CameraPosition & orientation system
More than 80 years after the development of aerial photographing technology, full-fledged digital mapping cameras for aerial survey and mapping were finally commercialized in the early part of the 21st century. This was achieved through many development breakthroughs, such as a dedicated image sensor that has the same size as aerial film and possesses a dynamic range that can withstand environments of widely varying sunlight, and a high-speed storage device capable of storing large amounts of data. Our company began using and accumulating experience with digital mapping cameras as early as 2004, and currently uses three of them, which provide images possessing quality that is an order of magnitude higher than possible with conventional aerial photographs. Free from distortions caused by the lens system, these images are simultaneously acquired in both RGB and near infrared, and utilized for creating high-resolution orthophoto maps, as well as in interpretation and analysis applications.
Digital Mapping Camera(DMC)Integrated GPS/IMU system
The first Laser Bird Terrain Mapper was introduced back in 1998. Achieving a terrain-mapping frequency of up to 200,000 Hz per sec., which is forty times the frequency of the first device, the LASER BIRD Terrain Mapper produces extremely detailed land features that were not possible with conventional aerial photogrammetry and land survey. This device is being actively utilized for detailed terrain mapping of mountains and hills located close to densely populated areas and coastal regions being significantly impacted by global warming. It is also contributing greatly to the base map information, now being disclosed by the Japanese government. Our company is currently using three LASER BIRD Terrain Mappers.

This thermal imager came into use in 2008 as a follow-on model to the Multi-Spectrum Scanner (MSS) launched in the 1980's and widely used primarily for precise observation of ocean temperatures. Because this device measures the brightness radiated from an object by sensing the spectrum outside the thermal infrared band, it can detect subtle changes in temperature on the surface of the ground or water. In the past, satellite-based remote sensing was the primary observation method. Compare to the satellite-based method, the thermal imager equipped in airplane provides survey and observation results with high spatial resolution and higher signal-to-noise ratio. These features are expected to enhance the thermal imager into wider use in the future.

Due to advances in DMC-based photography and image-processing technologies, cartography and orthophoto imagery generation using aerial survey is shifting from the conventional analog aerial photography to digital camera photography. GEO Master NEO® provides LiDAR point cloud data. Each point has three coordinates (XYZ) and reflection intensity value. GeoMaster NEO® has a long range measurement capability. Whatever the weather, GeoMaster NEO® is able to acquire point cloud data even during the night time.

For example, users can quickly assess the damage and develop a recovery plan by using Web Photogrammetry ®to view and analyze Asia Air Survey aerial photographs taken immediately following a disaster.

Active faults cause significant earthquake damage in Japan, making it crucial to reassess the methods used for evaluating them. Asia Air Survey LASER BIRD® aerial laser survey system acquires 3D data by transmitting laser beams at a maximum frequency of 200,000 Hz, the highest available in Japan. In order to provide high-quality digital elevation models (DEM) with less noise, we use our company's proprietary Red Relief Image Map technology to filter out buildings and trees from the ground data. Asia Air Survey excels in active fault investigation, which requires detailed terrain information and accurate interpretation of subtle terrain changes, with our company's highest-quality terrain data and unique analytical expertise.

LV Square is an innovative image mapping solution based on cloud computing by using the 360-degree seamless image mapping “LiveView”, which was developed by Asia Air Survey over 5 years. This solution visualizes complicated and minute information as images to share the information. LV Square supports the analysis of the situation, recovery and reconstruction planning after disaster. Zukameijin is the only digital mapping system originally developed in Japan and comes with all the essential functions for creating maps such as 3D measurement, features extraction, editing, DEM, and orthophoto generating using aerial photographs and satellite images. Far more compact than conventional digital mapping systems, its installation cost is small because a high-functionality PC is not required. Even a beginner can intuitively operate it using a mouse.
