    ANNOTATION

The work studies the peculiarities of literary transformations of Biblical models in Geor-

gian literature of the 70th. The study covers the novels of Otar Chiladze, Chabua Amiredjibi,

Guram Dochanashvili, Nodar Dumbadze and Jemal Karchkadze: ,,Kovelman Chemman

Mpovnelma(Anyone Who Findeth Me), ,,Data Tutashkhia, ,,Samoseli Pirveli(,,The First

Garment), ,,Maradisobis Kanoni(,,The Law of Eternity) and ,,Mdgmuri(,,The Tenant).

In the process of studies a number of biblical-archetypical models emerged; their

retranslation and literary transformation into the modern space are determined by the necessity

of the restoration of the system of national and spiritual values. The structure and the plot given

in the work, are in conformity with the straightforwardness of the latter.

It consists of five chapters (1. History of the subject 2. Old Testimony Model Georgian

novel of the 70th of the 20th century; 3. Models of prodigal son in the novels of 70th; 4. Biblical

connotations in Jemal Karchkhadze ,,Tenants; 5. Archetypical models in Chabua Amiredjibi

,,Data TuTashkhia), 10 sub-chapters and 12 paragraphs. The covered material, due to its

biblical-archetypical model is redistributed among the above mentioned writers in the

following manner: we study models of Noah, Cain, Maccabeans, Prodigal Son in Otar Chiladze

literature. Models of the Prodigal Son are covered in the novels of Guram DochanaSvili ,, ,, and

Nodar Dumbadze ,,The Law of Eternity. Archetypical models such as conflict between

brothers, betrayal of fathers by their sons, ,,Apocalyptical beast and Pontius Pilate are

displayed in Chabua Amireddjibi novel ,,Data Tutashkhia. Jemal Karchkhadze novel ,,The

Tenant displays the concept of the lost paradise.

The introduction reveals the methodology the author resorted to, when working on the

    given subject.

In the first chapter of the thesis is given a short overview of the topic, namely the

tendency observed in Georgian Literature - to resort to biblical and archetypical models at

different stages of its multi century history. Is underlined the necessity of using biblical and

archetypical structures for displaying the pressing national -cultural and moral-religious

problematic. The tendency of displaying the above mentioned models in antihuman and

distractive aspect was common for the 20 century soviet regime and communist ideology; this

period is also characterized by the attempts to create the so called ,,soviet hagiography(A.

Bakradze), and in this aspect, the literature of the 70th acquires a special importance in the

regulation of national, cultural and conscientious spheres.

The second chapter of the thesis studies models of Old Testament in the novel of Otar

Chiladze ,,Anyone Who Findeth Me. In Otar Chiladze novel the archetype of Biblical Noah,

as the symbol of salvation is introduced in the opposite token. The hero of Major Aleksandre

Makabeli, the model of Noah, represents a character who acquires alien to Noah egocentric

nature. Factually, he acquires the meaning of the anti-model of Noah, as long as he is oriented

not on the life in general, but solely on his own being -on the salvation of his own life. Quite

vividly is shown the history of Makabeli family; its ties to the past, present and future.

    Time and space symbols in the novel of Otar Chiladze are covered in the same chapter;

theoretically are analyzed peculiarities of the formation of the meanings and their essence in

the connotative specter of symbols. In this respect some, most important character-symbols,

among them cultural-associative notions of the sky, a road, bread, a barn, a clock, a cock and a

    deer have been studied.

Special sub-chapter is dedicated to the semiotic of the title, where the attention is focused

not only on the theoretical aspect but on the biblical model of Abel and Cain and the special

importance of the latter in revealing the authors main idea.

The third chapter discusses the literary ways of expressing the biblical plot of ,,prodigal

son on the examples of the novels of Otar Chiladze, Guram Dochanashvili and Nodar

Dumbadze. The analysis of Aleksandre, Domeniko and Bachana Bregvadze outlines the

peculiarities, which the given model acquires in the novels of this or that author; is underlined

the cultural importance of the personification of the given models in the regulation of the

    system of national values.
