    The CYBAS-iCone Crusher

The CYBAS-i Cone crusher is a modern high performance hydraulically adjusted (hydroset-type) conecrusher, an enhancement of the original legendary CYBAS Cone. It is the result of intensive research anddevelopment of the crushing chamber and mechanical design. This development was achieved by taking theexperiences from a multitude of applications and combining this with the latest developments in materials anddesign know how.

The CYBAS-iCone crusher boasts signicantly improved performance, capacity and installed power, whileat the same time retaining the reliability, excellent product shape and high set under that is an industrybenchmark.

The hydroset design uses a heavy-duty hydraulic cylinder to support the main shaft this feature combinedwith the signicant exibility of our automatic control system allows easy and automatic crusher setting, tramprelief and crusher utilization optimisation and monitoring during operation.

Ease of operation and maintenance coupled to the aforementioned features positions the CYBAS-ias a stateof the art, cost efcient, modern cone crusher with advanced performance.

Note 1: Capacities stated are indicative and based on a dry feed material of bulk density 1.6 t/m3; feed

material with particles smaller than the setting removed; open circuit operations; adherence

    to maximum feed size and feed from preceding blasting or crushing (with workable liners);

material fed into the crusher uniformly and continuously in quantity and particle size.

Note 2: For application specic capacities contact IMS Engineering since the crusher setup, specic

feed material properties and particle size distribution affect the capacity of selected crushers.

The CYBAS-i Cone crusher utilizes a speciallycongured curved crushing chamber design with a

large, grooved, inlet opening. The curved crushingchamber is characterized by the almost verticalinlet centre line, with an optimally changing angleof inclination until it reaches a specic angle at theoutlet. This design results in the choke point beinglocated at the lower part of the crushing chamber.

As a consequence, the density of the feed materialgradually increases as it proceeds from the inlettowards the outlet. The following benets arerealized:

Inter-particle crushing within the crushing chamberas a result of the high density in the lower partresults in a high quality product having a roundishcubic form, with high set under (as high as 92%.Set under is dened as the percentage productpassing equivalent in size to the setting).

    The volumetrically optimised crushing chamber

coupled with effective inter-particle crushingresults in a remarkable improvement in capacity. The CYBAS-i boasts a 70% increase in throughputcompared with older type conventional crushersof the same size.

Having a grooved inlet, which is almost vertical, and is larger than that of conventional crushers, ensures that the CYBAS-ican nip and crush largelumps of material smoothly and simultaneously, with limited to zero slippage.

The optimised curved crushing chamber and

inlet groove conguration ensures that the entiresurface area of the crushing liners wear uniformlyfrom the inlet to the outlet, facilitating optimum liner

utilization and consistent crusher performance. The design ensures that the inlet will not becomesmaller with wear of the liners. This ensures thatthe large crushing ratio is maintained, the crusherthroughput and performance is constant, and thatthe highest productivity is achieved during the fulllife of the liners.

    High Crushing Capacity

The CYBAS-ihas up to a 50% increase in installedpower over the previous CYBAS generation. Thehigher installed power, together with the volumetricallyoptimised crushing chamber design, supports theremarkable increase in crusher capacity.

Patented Insert Mantle and Concave Liners

More effective use of the installed power, which inturn leads to energy savings of up to 30%, is achievedthrough the use of patented high performance mantleand concave liners, with grooves produced througha special insert design this facilitates compoundcrushing within the chamber. Compound crushingmeans not only compression crushing but alsobending and shearing actions are introduced.

The liners have been proven to improve both the setunder ratio and deliver a superior cubically shapedproduct that negates the need for any downstreamshape correcting.

    Wet System Crushing

The CYBAS-i Cone crusher can be conguredas a Wet System crusher for processing sticky orhigh moisture feed materials. The system requirescorrectly congured water addition and a wateraddition device integrated into the design with thespecically congured and selected machine.

    Easy Replacement of Crushing Liners

The use of a torch ring facilitates the quick and easychange of liners in the shortest time. The head nutfor xing the mantle is self-tightening and can beused repeatedly. Only the mantle requires the use ofbacking material.

    Easy Internal Inspection

The inside of the crusher can be easily viewedthrough large inspection hatches provided in thebottom frame.

    Easy Adjustment of Discharge Setting

The hydroset design enables easy and accurateadjustment of the crusher discharge settings duringoperation at the push of a button, which is done at

the crusher control panel or remotely from a controlcentre.

Operating Parameters of the Crusher can bedetermined at a glance

The crusher is equipped with a shaft position sensorand system for reading and recording gap settingand crusher liner wear, minimising the necessity todetermine these by physical measurement inside thecrusher other than for calibration. Hydraulic pressuremonitoring and load sensing enables quick, easy andreliable monitoring of whether the crusher is beingunderutilised, overloaded or used at optimum level. These signals enable the control system to ensurethe machines works at optimum levels all the time.

    Features and Benets:

    Drive System

Spiral bevel helical gears are used for the eccentricgear and drive shaft pinion, which provide excellenttransfer of power with highest efciency and lowest

noise. In addition, all drive system bearings havehigh quality surface nishes and generous oil lmfacilitation which reduces friction and prevents heatbuild-up. As a result power loss due to friction in themachine is minimised.

    Dust Sealing System

The most effective system for preventing the ingressof dust particles into the lubrication system from

within the operating crusher is by means of an airseal system. The pressurised air is provided by highquality high-duty air blower. Air seal piping is installed

and protected within the main body of the crusher.Crusher Frame Wear Liners

All surfaces where material comes into contact withthe main body within the crusher are lined with linerplates to ensure that the main body is kept free ofwear.

    Features and Benets: Mechanical Features:

    Hydraulic System

The main shaft of the CYBAS-i Cone Crusher issupported and controlled by a hydraulic systemduring operation. This type of crusher design is

referred to as a hydroset design and boasts thefollowing benets, Simple and easy crusher operating gap setting

    and re-adjustment.

Fully remote setting and automated control of thecrusher main shaft.

Tramp relief and overload protection uponintroduction of uncrushable foreign material intothe crushing chamber. The elimination of suchmaterial is facilitated by the main shaft loweringautomatically and releasing the material and thencontinuing with normal operation.

    Main Shaft Supporting Structure

The main shaft has upper and lower support. This arrangement supports the crushing of verycompetent and large feed material without having to

manage high loads applied to the main crusher bodycompared to cantilever loading designs. The uppersupport is by a heavy-duty spherical bearing. Overand above the metallurgical benets offered by thespherical bearing system, this design reduces criticalloading of the main shaft and results in longer fatiguelife and lower power consumption.
