THE INSPIRATION:We decided to focus on Affetti da’s constructive ability to help and to connect people who need support instead of focusing on what Alzheimer’s disease actually is. Alzheimer is a disease that our society knows well. Its consequences on old people’s lives and their families are well-known. Alzheimer is about old people, memories fading away, losing identity, not recognizing the loved ones anymore. We don’t want to deny the reality of these dramatic features but, treasuring the lessons of sex positive movements and death positive movements, we feel the need to change perspective.Our design focuses on the positivity and the power of Affetti da. Do people know that there are organizations which can help Alzheimer’s victims?Affetti da is a special dimension that helps people. Affetti da can improve the relationship between family and patients, can help them not to feel alone and lost.Affetti da is about what people can learn and cherish and not only about Alzheimer’s evident drawbacks.

THE STARS:Is there anything that can make you feel less alone and lost? Stars can make it happen. They light up our life if we look at them. They are a map. They are the first thing mankind used as a compass.Stars guide us, help us and support us on our way. This was the essence of stars for ancient travellers. Stars symbolize hope and our need of light, we only have to look up.Affetti da embodies all this. Doctors and volunteers are there to take care of those searching for help and stand beside them. We also wanted to establish an analogy between stars and neurons. Let’s watch the brain as a portion of the sky. This is the key to keep the fundamental element of this disease (the brain) in a constructive way, the power and the inspiration of the stars and the survival possibilities, in the broadest sense, of the human brain even in a moment of pain. In this sense we want to focus on the remaining possibilities, on the vitality, on the power of relationship that is not meaningless just because it has become difficult.Affetti da gives people the chance to find comfort, freedom, vitality and strength. We don’t want to forget twice. We don’t want to forget that a relationship, even a damaged one, is still worthwhile: old people doesn’t lose their identity owing to this disease, even if that identity is now blurred.

DYNAMIC LOGO:The pictogram is the depiction of a portion of star-spangled sky. The guiding star is in the middle. All around the stars emerge as a constellation. The stars appear in a different way according to the eyes that look at them. The facet of the pictogram stands for the different moment of the lives of those who address to Affetti da association.

THE COLOR:Pantone 072C is inspired by the shade of the universe around planetary bodies. It’s a tone of blue with an intense purple undertone. Blue is the color of peace, honesty, kindness, emotional depth. Violet is the color of mystery and magic, metamorphosis and transition. The circle is the eternal motion of the spirit, a mix of stillness and dynamism.
