Woodworth, Department of Geography, The Ohio State University Chair’s Letter Dear China Geography Specialty Group Members and Friends, On behalf of this year’s CGSG Executive Committee (Xinyue, Max, Zheye and Jiang) and myself, it has been a great honor and pleasure to work for the specialty group. We have over 30 panels on China at this year’s AAG meeting in New Orleans. A big thank-you goes to the Organizers, Chairs, and Presenters. Our Specialty Group Membership has gone down slightly to 385, but our overall membership size is pretty good. As you plan your trip to the upcoming AAG meeting in New Orleans and look forward to meeting new and old friends, I would like to give you a quick, yet fairly detailed preview of some of our exciting events at this year’s meeting. An overview: This year the CGSG is sponsoring 31 sessions at the annual meeting. We are expecting hundreds of our members to attend the meeting and more to join the specialty group. A growing number of geographers from China will fly across the Pacific Ocean and share their latest research. Welcome to New Orleans. The following are some highlighted events organized by your CGSG Executive Committee: Day 2, April 11, Wednesday - CGSG Keynote Talk. 5:20pm-7:00pm, Galerie 6, Marriott, 2nd Floor This year our Keynote Talk will be delivered by Professor John Agnew from the Department of Geography, UCLA. Professor Agnew will talk about territorial politics in South China Sea. James Sidaway from the Department of Geography, National University of Singapore, will be the discussant. This Keynote Talk aims to situate China in international political economy and connect the CGSG with broad audiences. Day 2, April 11, Wednesday - Career Development in China. 8:00am-9:40am, Studio 2, Marriott, 2nd Floor This session attempts to provide a platform between geographical institutions in China and potential job applicants.
