administered at RMC Kolkata and all sub-offices .

R.P. Goenka Auditorium, International Management Institute
Kolkata.
(b) attended the meeting at Conference Hall of Chief Secretary,
Nabanna on 25.05.2017 organized by Govt. of West Bengal regarding
Pre-monsoon cyclone & flood preparedness 2017 for managing and
mitigating the disastrous impact of the natural calamities.
(c) attended the meeting with Director Agriculture Govt. of West
Bengal for implementation of Block level Agro Advisory and
enhancement of outreach of the service under GKMS project on
30.05.2017.

05.05.2017. (b) Shri G.K. Das, Sc-D attended district level co-ordination meeting to assess the pre-cyclone and monsoon relief preparedness for South 24 Parganas on 08-05-2017 at New Administrative Building, Alipore,
Kolkata-27. (c)ShriH.R.Biswas,Sc-D delivered lectures on ’Early Warnings’ at Administrative Training Institute,Kolkata,Govt. of West Bengal on 24.05.2017. (d) ShriH.R.Biswas,Sc-D and Shri Sukumar Roy,Met-A delivered lectures on ‘overview of Weather observation & Forecast’ at MitraInstitution,Kolkata on 12.05.2017.

meeting with Shri Rajeev Kumar, Director (Agriculture) on 15-05-2017

Delhi) at Ranchi.

Sukumar Mitra, Met. A attended a meeting with state government
officials at Project Bhavan, Ranchi on 19-05-2017 reg. World Bank
AWS project.
(c). Mr. R. S. Sharma, Scientist-B visited Airport Director office in
connection with site selection for installation of CWIS along the
runway.
(d). Site for installation of CWIS along the runway has been allocated by AAI Ranchi and the proposal has been sent to HQ for further processing.
(vi) (a)ShriA.K.Sahai,Sc.G visited M.C.Patna on 25.05.2017 and gave
lecture to the stake holders and media about the services of
Climatological Division of IMD and ShriAnandShankar,Sc.B also
delivered speech on Met. Services provided by M.C.Patna.
(b) ShriAnandShankar,Sc.B and ShriSandeepKumar,Met-A
delivered lecture at State Disaster Management Authority
Symposium title draft heat action plan.
(c) ShriAnandShankar,Sc.B attended Crisis Management Group
meeting with State Govt. dignitary regarding review of

(a) A joint inspection was done on 10.05.2017 by G.N.Raha,Sc.D of MC Gangtok and Revenue officer,SDM of Pakyong for selection of Land for setting up of Met Office cum residential complex at Pakyong. (b) ShriG.N.Raha,Sc.DalongwithShriSouravAdhikary,Sc.D from AMO Kolkata have visited AMS Pakyong,Sikkim for selection of site for AWOS and Visibility landmark on 16th to 17th May 2017. (c) ShriD.Roy,Sc.B of FMO Jalpaiguri attended a co-ordination meeting on
Flood Contingency plan at District Magistrate‘s Conference hall.
d) Dr.Shashikant, Sc.B&ShriK.Murmu, Met.B has attended “ Flood Prepared-
ness Meeting for ensuing SW Monsoon-2017 held at Mahanadi Bhawan,
Bhubaneswar on 18.05.17.
e) Under supervision of ofMr. R. S. Sharma, Scientist-B, Two months
summer internship in r/o three nos. of M. Tech students of Central
University of Jharkhand has been started.

Training Institute, Govt. of West Bengal visited ACWC Kolkata on 29-05-17 and various activities of ACWC Kolkata have been briefed to them. (b) Half-day training on Agro-meteorology observation and forecast
has been imparted to 65 nos. of officials(KrishiProyuktiSahayak) of
Govt. of West Bengal on 24.05.2017.
c) ShriSandeep Kumar, Met.-A attended “Flood Stately Week”
organised by Bihar State Disaster Management on 17.05.17.

2.1 Significant Weather & Forecast (i)40 Nos. Sig. Wx F/c issued from ACWC Kolkata, 14 realized, 54 Nos. Sig. Wx reported at MC Bhubaneswar, 13 Nos. Sig. Wx F/c issued from AMO Kolkata,
(ii) Formation of Depression over East-Central Bay of Bengal in the last week of May-2017 and consequently turned into a Cyclone ‘MORA’ and then Severe Cyclonic Storm and ultimately crossed Bangladesh coast close to south of
Chittagong on 30-05-2017 morning. 2.2 Progress Report on ISO Certification
work.
RMC Kolkata: Certification of RWFC Kolkata & DWR Kolkata under process. MC Gangtok: Process for obtaining ISO certification has already been initiated. MC Bhubaneswar: Final phase of consultancy is continuing for ISO 9001-2015 certification.
2.3 Action taken on Minimum Government Maximum Governance.
ACWC Kolkata: Adverse Wx SMS warnings are sent through mobile
to all State Govt. Officials, Disaster Management Officials & Other Central Govt. Organizations on real time basis for SCS MORE and other extreme weather events. MC Bhubaneswar: i. Mobile numbers of state government Officials and other disaster
related officials are sent to CWD, IMD New Delhi. ii. SMS for adverse weather are sent through mobile to all users. iii. Daily forecast along with warning and city forecast for 16 cities are
disseminated through email to all users including state authorities, electronic and print medias. iv. Nowcasting based on DWR products of Paradeep, Gopalpur,
Kolkata and Visakhapatnam and CTT of IMD site are, disseminated to all users including SRC, OSDMA, concerned collectors and both electronic and print medias.

6.2 NON AVIATION :
i. PPT. (Rainfall, its Spatial & Intensity) and NOWCAST of scheduled twelve stations and its verification and updating in ‘’METNET’’ website & E -mailed to NOWCAST Division , New Delhi and City Forecast of fifteen Stations of West Bengal and its dissemination in real time basis.
ii. Collection , Preparation and Dissemination of Station wise Daily Rainfall data ,Preparation of
district wise daily rainfall statistics under daily rainfall monitoring scheme(DRMS) of three
subdivisions under its control , were sent by FAX / E-mail to :-
a) NHAC, New Delhi and DGM (Hydrology) New Delhi.
b) DDGM(WF) Pune, LRF Pune and NCC, Pune and all concerned
c) District wise weekly and monthly rainfall data were sent by E-mail to :-

On every Tuesday and Friday, district level ensemble forecast of NHAC downloaded from imd.gov.in website and value added forecast along with realized weather were sent to AMFUs in this state and M.O. Port Blair(value added forecast sent in excel format that is being downloaded from the moderated report generated by farmers portal) . Also onlinemoderation of district level ensemble forecast for WB and A&N islands done in NeGPA (Govt. of India)software module named as farmer’s portal. After receiving district wise advisories from eachAMFUs, CompositeEnglishBulletins were issued on every Tuesday and Friday & Bengali Bulletin on Wednesday. The composite bulletins are uploaded in imd.agrimet.gov.in along with value added forecast (moderated forecast) on the date of their issue for display in the website .This unit also sends weather forecast and warnings by SMS to farmers through mKisan portal. This unit also sends weekly Met. Departure from Normal to Agrimet, Pune.

8.1 FLOOD METEOROLOGY
M.C. Patna (i) Daily rainfall data of different stations have been received and recorded in the registerand also started sending to DGM(H) New Delhi,RMC,Kolkata,RTH New Delhi and DirectorateCWC, New Delhi (ii) Weekly rainfall summary of Bihar generated on every Wednesday andsent to DGM (Hydro met)(iii) Updated rainfall data of Bihar for April’2017 sent to DGM(Hydro met) New Delhi & other destinations (iv) District wise Cumulative rainfall of Bihar Upto 25th April’ 2017 generated and sent to DGM (Hydro met) New Delhi and otherdestinations (v) Real time basis monthly R/f data for the month of May’2017 sent to Hydro met New Delhi.

i) Weekly Hydromet data in respect of all the districts of Sikkim were sent to Agrimet, Pune regularly during the month of May’ 2017. ii) Weekly Rainfall Statistics in respect of all four districts of Sikkim sent to Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority, Gangtok, Agrimet, Pune, Food Security & Agriculture Development Department, Govt. of Sikkim regularly during the month of May’ 2017. i) Weekly Rainfall Data of DRMS stations under Jharkhand State were collected & computed in mkrain_2016
Software & mailed to DGM, Hydrology New Delhi, WS Pune and other departmental as well as state officials of
Jharkhand State. ii)District Wise Rainfall Statistics on weekly basis was prepared & forwarded to departmental as well as state
officials of Jharkhand.
iii)Data for the month of May’17 was prepared and sent to Hydrology Section, New Delhi through mail.
iv) The station has been registered with Official Language Deptt. For online submission of Qtrly as well as Annual
Official Language Report.
